[network] @ishtar; day 018 [open]
[When the video feed flickers on, it shows Yuuri slumped over and out of breath, sitting in a bedroom that seems pretty sparse except for the full-length mirror set into the wall behind her. The reflection in it, seen over her shoulder, shows that the mattress that is usually on the bed has been propped up against the door as if to block it. It's still day, but the sunlight reflecting off the mirror doesn't seem to bring her any comfort]
What... the heck... was that?
[She's done her fair share of running from people who want her dead, but this was something else entirely.]
First I die, then I wake up in some weird temple, and then... when I get to a house there's... it chased me! It almost grabbed me, and I think it's still outside!
[She leans forward and listens carefully. ...she's not really sure if it's there or not (it is, and will be until nightfall), but the uncertainty of not knowing whether or not it's gone is more frightening to her than anything else.]
...I don't want to spend the night here... I think I've got enough time to run for another house, but... how do I get around that thing? Does... does anyone have any ideas?

what if it doesn't leave?
no subject
you've got a better chance of making it staying there than leaving. you might not make it to another house
no subject
i couldn't get the mirror off the wall though... i wanted to prop it under the doorknob to keep it from turning
there has to be something more i can do
no subject
[She doesn't add that, since someone or something has been known to get in before to give them those shots no matter what she or anyone else has put in front of the door, it may not matter.
Still, these monsters might be different.]
no subject
[It's a little eerie, if she's being honest.]
no subject
[Just in case.]
no subject
[So she's lucky she was dead and couldn't turn on the beacon, basically; the shadow thing will go away at nightfall.]
no subject
hopefully they'll leave you alone. they left me alone. [They barely seemed to see her and Lea, really.]
no subject
how long have they been around? i don't remember seeing anything like them the first time i woke up here
no subject
do you know how long you were gone? [Or how long you were dead, to be more accurate. She's kind of accepted the fact that people come back here, come back as they were before, not as walkers. (Though she's not entirely convinced that will last.) It's still strange though.]
no subject
i'm not sure. i looked on this tablet thing a little after i locked myself in here but none of the things i saw at first looked familiar, and then i wanted to figure out how to get away from the thing outside
my full name is yuuri suzuki... did they put my name on any of those notices they put out while i was gone?
no subject
i guess you also missed that weird light a few days ago. there was this thing following us. it kind of got into our head
it's hard to explain
[Not especially helpful, Clem.]
no subject
Just the thought leaves a sour taste in her mouth.]
six days is a really long time to be out like that...
[It's not like the queen's poison, which put her into a state where she looked dead, for all intents and purposes; that had worn off after some time before her body would have actually shut down. ...maybe it's some more advanced potion.]
but yeah i didn't see anything like that
are you okay? did it do anything to you?
no subject
it didn't last long. i hope this won't either
no subject
how can they have given us a shot without us knowing they were there?
i thought the doors locked at night
no subject
the doors do lock but whoever they are come in anyway when we've gone to sleep. after the shot i couldn't move for ages [Well... it felt like ages anyway.]
whoever is doing it must be the people who brought us here in the first place
@Enoch, video
His voice is scratchy, but much improved from the day after the Calling. He's actually intelligible, if quiet.]
We've had these creatures at our shelter for...this will be the second day, come nightfall. They're relentless. Please don't open your door.
@ishtar; video
They don't go away? That's awful... Do you have food? What about water?
no subject
[Food is less of a concern. He knows how to handle himself there. Water is what's more important.
It's hard to really see the condition he's in. It's getting dark and he has his hood up, its shadow obscuring the top half of his face the way he's got his head tilted down. From his mouth and the sound of his voice alone, he's strained and tired.]
no subject
...and even if you run out, I remember reading somewhere that the human body can last up to three days without water.
[...she puts a hand to her head, her brows furrowing in slight confusion.]
But I'm not sure where I read it.
no subject
[It sounds a little generous, actually, but feasible. He's actually the least likely person in this town to realize she's lost anything, aside from the general knowledge that people who die tend to lose things.]
But rationing too carefully is dangerous too. It's important to obey your body's needs. ...You have water, yourself, don't you?
@Spoiler; audio
[ Don't mind her, the headaches have started. ]
@ishtar; audio
[She sort of feels like they've all been herded into cages; it's maddening.] Were you able to make it to shelter, Miss?
Audio
I'm Stephanie. Nice to meet you.
@Quark | video;
[Quark echoes everyone else because it seems like a statement that just can't be said enough.]
You don't know if you can avoid them for sure, especially with all the snow, but at least inside you can hide for awhile! Maybe tomorrow it'll be safer.

There's a mirror, but it won't come off the wall.
no subject
[This is really impressive to him, on account of how high a mattress towers over him when set upright.]
I just put a chair under the doorknob.
no subject
[She just propped it up, pushed it, and repeated until it was over by the door...]
A chair would probably have worked too, but I couldn't find one. It sounds like you have a lot to work with, though... that's good!
no subject
[Quark deflates a little. He's glad she seems to be relatively safe, all things considered, but he really wanted to help more!]
no subject
...here, there's just snow.
no subject
[Well, sort of. To an extent. He always had at least one person around, anyway.]
It's not fun being alone so often. But at least we have some way to communicate at all, right?
[He smiles, trying to lift the mood or at least distract her from the scary creepy things outside.]
I'd never seen snow before I came here. I used to think I'd be excited about it, but now that it's all around all the time, it's really hard to look at.
[Even harder than a red, dead, ash-cloud sky.]
no subject
[Her brows furrow a little in concern when he talks about the snow being hard to look at. Poor kid... the moment passes, and she smiles. It's almost always easier to try and be positive for someone else's sake.]
Where are you from that didn't have snow? Even in Hattusa, it snowed sometimes, and it was really hot there... [She smiles.] Have you made a snowman yet? It's probably not safe to do it right now, but when those things leave us alone, you can make one if you get to shelter early enough in the day.
no subject
[Quark definitely didn't mean for that to sound as blunt as it came out, but his Grandpa was always so blunt and bitter about it that it's just kind of become a default. His face flushes a little, but embarrassment quickly turns to excitement.]
A snowman? Really? I've never tried! Is it a lot of fun?
no subject
[What kind of place is that to be raising a small child? Her smile becomes an expression of concern, but since he seems to be willing to talk about snowmen rather than the junkyard, she'll follow that change of subject.]
It's lots of fun! If we run into each other, I'll teach you how to make one. Are there any landmarks near you that I can use to try and find you?
no subject
[His whole face lights up.]
Can we make a whole family of snowpeople so they don't have to be alone either?
[He has to stop and think about the landmarks. Honestly, he isn't sure.]
Um...I dunno. The house I arrived in had a super ruined second floor, I don't know if that helps. When I can go outside again I'll let you know if I see anything different that stands out.
[Besides, you know, snow.]
no subject
[Not to mention, she doesn't think it's very responsible parenting of whoever this kid's guardian is to let him wander around in the snow. Not that Tenmyouji had much choice in the matter, BUT HEY...
...when did she make a whole family of snowpeople, anyway? She feels like she should remember it, but she doesn't - or rather, can't. That's something she'll worry about later.]
That doesn't really help me much... sorry. But if you could take pictures of your surroundings, I'll do the same, and we can keep doing it after we travel until we find each other!
[sefliequest ??kwhateveryearthisis]
no subject
[Way nicer than his Grandpa, not that that makes him love the old man any less.]
I'll do my best so neither of us have to be alone anymore.
[And that's a solemn promise.]
no subject
[She smiles.]
We should all try to work together here, right? We're all stuck in the same boat. I'll do my best too!
no subject
[And also not get eaten by potential brain monsters or twitchy shadow things.]
no subject
[Yeah avoiding being eaten by brain monsters sounds good to her...]
Take care of yourself until we can meet up, okay?
