[network] @ishtar; day 018 [open]

[When the video feed flickers on, it shows Yuuri slumped over and out of breath, sitting in a bedroom that seems pretty sparse except for the full-length mirror set into the wall behind her. The reflection in it, seen over her shoulder, shows that the mattress that is usually on the bed has been propped up against the door as if to block it. It's still day, but the sunlight reflecting off the mirror doesn't seem to bring her any comfort]

What... the heck... was that?

[She's done her fair share of running from people who want her dead, but this was something else entirely.]

First I die, then I wake up in some weird temple, and then... when I get to a house there's... it chased me! It almost grabbed me, and I think it's still outside!

[She leans forward and listens carefully. ...she's not really sure if it's there or not (it is, and will be until nightfall), but the uncertainty of not knowing whether or not it's gone is more frightening to her than anything else.]

...I don't want to spend the night here... I think I've got enough time to run for another house, but... how do I get around that thing? Does... does anyone have any ideas?

i think you'd be better off staying where you are
neverbitten: ([hm] just fill up the sky)

[personal profile] neverbitten 2015-07-24 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
then block the doors and try and make sure it doesn't get in.

you've got a better chance of making it staying there than leaving. you might not make it to another house

is there any other furniture you could push against it?

[She doesn't add that, since someone or something has been known to get in before to give them those shots no matter what she or anyone else has put in front of the door, it may not matter.

Still, these monsters might be different.

do you have anything you could use as a weapon?

[Just in case.]

better than nothing

hopefully they'll leave you alone. they left me alone.
[They barely seemed to see her and Lea, really.]

since the night before last i think. there was this light and then they just appeared.

do you know how long you were gone?
[Or how long you were dead, to be more accurate. She's kind of accepted the fact that people come back here, come back as they were before, not as walkers. (Though she's not entirely convinced that will last.) It's still strange though.]
neverbitten: ([sad] all my friends are dead)

[personal profile] neverbitten 2015-07-24 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's a good way to figure it out... Clementine does recognise the name; she double checks, going back to a post from almost a week ago.] yeah. your name's on a list from six days ago.

i guess you also missed that weird light a few days ago. there was this thing following us. it kind of got into our head
it's hard to explain

[Not especially helpful, Clem.]

it made me feel different, like something was watching me all the time. and i had a really bad headache for ages. it wasn't like this though, there was nothing we could really see following us. someone or something gave everyone a shot again and it stopped.

it didn't last long. i hope this won't either

the light did something [Clementine's not sure sick is the right word though.]

the doors do lock but whoever they are come in anyway when we've gone to sleep. after the shot i couldn't move for ages [Well... it felt like ages anyway.]

whoever is doing it must be the people who brought us here in the first place

[He has to ignore the prickling feeling in the back of his mind. The paranoia so unlike him he's aware of it and it's so distracting...it doesn't help that he's hardly had any sleep. The creatures haven't left their shelter alone since they appeared, and their constant clawing and the way the canvases they've wedged the door shut with creaking have kept him up.

His voice is scratchy, but much improved from the day after the Calling. He's actually intelligible, if quiet.]

We've had these creatures at our shelter for...this will be the second day, come nightfall. They're relentless. Please don't open your door.

We have enough for now, though not if they stay much longer. I've been gathering snow in my empty bottles but I only have five.

[Food is less of a concern. He knows how to handle himself there. Water is what's more important.

It's hard to really see the condition he's in. It's getting dark and he has his hood up, its shadow obscuring the top half of his face the way he's got his head tilted down. From his mouth and the sound of his voice alone, he's strained and tired.]

That sounds right, at any rate.

[It sounds a little generous, actually, but feasible. He's actually the least likely person in this town to realize she's lost anything, aside from the general knowledge that people who die tend to lose things.]

But rationing too carefully is dangerous too. It's important to obey your body's needs. ...You have water, yourself, don't you?

Yeah, I'm okay. My friends and I more or less know the lay of the land here, so we found shelter fast.

I'm Stephanie. Nice to meet you.
averytinyparticle: (N-No! That's not true!)

@Quark | video;

[personal profile] averytinyparticle 2015-07-29 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You should definitely stay inside, Miss!

[Quark echoes everyone else because it seems like a statement that just can't be said enough.]

You don't know if you can avoid them for sure, especially with all the snow, but at least inside you can hide for awhile! Maybe tomorrow it'll be safer.
averytinyparticle: (I am ten and what is this?)

[personal profile] averytinyparticle 2015-07-30 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Does making a barricade count as something? If you're working on making sure they can't break in that's better than just sitting and waiting without doing anything!
averytinyparticle: (This way!)

[personal profile] averytinyparticle 2015-07-30 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
You can move a whole mattress by yourself?

[This is really impressive to him, on account of how high a mattress towers over him when set upright.]

I just put a chair under the doorknob.
averytinyparticle: (Ehehe...that's true.)

[personal profile] averytinyparticle 2015-07-30 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I guess so! But, huh...if there's not much else in the house I guess that doesn't keep you busy for very long.

[Quark deflates a little. He's glad she seems to be relatively safe, all things considered, but he really wanted to help more!]
averytinyparticle: (I don't like the sound of that)

[personal profile] averytinyparticle 2015-07-30 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I know what you mean.

[Well, sort of. To an extent. He always had at least one person around, anyway.]

It's not fun being alone so often. But at least we have some way to communicate at all, right?

[He smiles, trying to lift the mood or at least distract her from the scary creepy things outside.]

I'd never seen snow before I came here. I used to think I'd be excited about it, but now that it's all around all the time, it's really hard to look at.

[Even harder than a red, dead, ash-cloud sky.]
averytinyparticle: (I am ten and what is this?)

[personal profile] averytinyparticle 2015-07-30 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
A desert wasteland junkyard town. It can't snow because there's dust and radiation in the sky. I think that's how it works, anyway.

[Quark definitely didn't mean for that to sound as blunt as it came out, but his Grandpa was always so blunt and bitter about it that it's just kind of become a default. His face flushes a little, but embarrassment quickly turns to excitement.]

A snowman? Really? I've never tried! Is it a lot of fun?
averytinyparticle: (I know this one! It's a baby!)

[personal profile] averytinyparticle 2015-07-30 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
You would? That would be the best!

[His whole face lights up.]

Can we make a whole family of snowpeople so they don't have to be alone either?

[He has to stop and think about the landmarks. Honestly, he isn't sure.]

Um...I dunno. The house I arrived in had a super ruined second floor, I don't know if that helps. When I can go outside again I'll let you know if I see anything different that stands out.

[Besides, you know, snow.]
averytinyparticle: (Cool!)

[personal profile] averytinyparticle 2015-07-30 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Okay! I like that idea. You're really nice, you know?

[Way nicer than his Grandpa, not that that makes him love the old man any less.]

I'll do my best so neither of us have to be alone anymore.

[And that's a solemn promise.]
averytinyparticle: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] averytinyparticle 2015-07-30 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. I know things are really scary here, but maybe if we all try to think positively and be nice to each other we'll be able to figure things out easier.

[And also not get eaten by potential brain monsters or twitchy shadow things.]
