[log] Event: Lavender's Green, Part Two [open]

Characters: everyone
Location: mysterious, white hallways
Date: Day 193-194
Summary: Find friends. Get lost. Don't look.
Warnings: Potential for gore and psychological horror. Please note any specific warnings in your subject lines!

While confusingly similar, the area is split into a few different sections:

The Core
The hallways here are narrow and twist at a rapid rate. With how dazzlingly white everything is, it's easy to not realize you're coming on a turn and slam right into the walls. There are no rooms here--no one starts here, though they may find it while they wander. At the center is a large, round area, like the center of a spiral. There's a lot of air pressure here.

The Inner Hallways
The largest area, filled with dead ends, gentle slopes and twists, and, occasionally, difficult-to-see drops where a higher hallway intersects with a lower one without a wall to separate them. The whole place tastes vaguely like blood. Most rooms are here--most people start here.

The Outer Hallways
The outer ring of the ball of yarn. It's not as thick with halls and twists as the other two areas, leading to a lot more boring walking in one direction. It's totally possible to circle around the same path multiple times without realizing it, as everything is so similar here. Occasionally, footsteps can be heard just outside the farthest walls. Sometimes, something breathes. There are a few rooms here--some people will start here.

Remember to note what kind of eyes your character has in their top level!
definingfuture: (IM - Iron Man isn't listening.)

That is what I'm aiming for, Alphonse. That is always what I'm aiming for.

[It's his job to go in first. Even if he's not a soldier or an Avenger at this point, his duty is to protect at all costs. And that's a job Tony takes seriously.]

I don't know that it's possible to get out of here without some injury. We have to give if we want to make progress. I'm not going to just let people get hurt, don't worry. I'm being careful.
armoured: (thin] neutrality)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-21 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No, you're not.

[He could not sound more incredulous.]

You just told me how you hurt yourself to write something, that's not being careful at all.
definingfuture: (T - This is my eager face.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-21 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I am. It's not serious. I promise.

[It's the same as an injury gained by trying to pry a door open with a crowbar. He took a shot and failed, that's all.]

Why are you so worried?
armoured: (thin] sorrow)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-21 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it's idiots like you that make a small sacrifice and then keep building up, never thinking of their own safety. Never remembering that you're important to people for reasons beyond letting yourself get hurt.
definingfuture: (T - Stand in the desert.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-21 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tony stops walking, turning to look at Al. That last bit sounded far more serious, and he thinks it's probably best to address this before they continue.]

Are you sure I'm the one you want to be telling that to?

[His answer is soft, but steady.]

That sounds like experience. Hard experience.
armoured: (thin] determined)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-21 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[His jaw firms, but he shakes his head.]

It's what I'm telling you, so don't forget it.
definingfuture: (T - You did what with the pole?)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-21 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand that you're talking to me. It just doesn't sound like something that is meant for me.
armoured: (thin] neutrality)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-21 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it is.

[Abrupt, but firm.]
definingfuture: (T - Thank you. I know what I said.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-21 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah. That's an answer.]

Do you want to talk about it?
armoured: (thin] backwards)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-21 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
No. I just want people to stop getting hurt.

[Okay, maybe that was a yes, after all.]
definingfuture: (T - Honestly you know I lie.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-21 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Me too.

[He doesn't start walking again.]

I want everyone to stop hurting in general. I used to be able to just fix things.
armoured: (thin] with armour)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-21 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too.

[He does start walking again, it's easier.]

Not easily, not all the time, but-- some of the time. Enough.
definingfuture: (T - Stand in the desert.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-21 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
And now enough seems a lot more difficult.

But, you know, it's still there. A little out of reach, maybe, but it's still there.
armoured: (thin] sad)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-21 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Then you need to focus on that too and take better care of yourself, promise me?
definingfuture: (Default - I never sleep.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-21 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
This is focusing on that. [He holds up his hand.] This isn't fatal. It's not even serious. And it's a way of working, moving toward a solution.

You don't have to worry about me. I know you want to help everyone survive this place. So do I. And if we're talking about caring for ourselves, maybe you could stop running after actual dangers all the time.
armoured: (thin] with armour)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-21 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[He huffs in frustration, furrow appearing at his brow.]

I don't run after actual dangers, that's not fair!
definingfuture: (T - And you're fucking welcome.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-21 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tony gives Al a skeptical raise on his eyebrow.]

The Joker?
armoured: (thin] distress)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-21 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't you think he needed to be contained?
definingfuture: (T - Your PSA for the evening.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-21 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That's missing the point. And I know you're smarter than that.
armoured: (thin] oh...)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-22 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd spoken to him before when he was better and I'd promised to try and stop him, I had help, I wasn't just running headlong into danger.
definingfuture: (T - Thank you. I know what I said.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-23 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
And I made sure that I wasn't putting myself in danger, which is a lot safer than trying to chase down a known killer who is actually dangerous and unpredictable.

I appreciate your concern. I do. But you shouldn't ask people to do things that you won't do yourself.
armoured: (thin] backwards)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-26 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I always thought that was a stupid thing to say, because people are all different, so why shouldn't you ask someone to do something that you won't do because they're better suited to it?

[He's just trying to deflect the conversation.]
definingfuture: (T - And this fucking thing.)

[personal profile] definingfuture 2017-01-27 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's a sad excuse to offer for not making an effort. You might or might not be better at certain things than others or they might be better than you. But when it comes to asking for help and listening? We're equals.

I've been a superhero to the public for ten years. Before that, I already ran my own company and employed hundreds of people, some older and more experienced in their respective jobs than I was. Recognizing where I stood among them was key to my own position. I wanted them to trust me, and I knew they couldn't do that without trust in return.

[Congratulations, Alphonse, you have gotten a lecture.]

If you want to say I'm better at not hurting myself than you are, I'd suggest you reevaluate yourself. You can't protect other people if you keep getting hurt. All you do is make them afraid for you.

[There's a stern note creeping into his voice. But Tony leaves that as it is and starts walking again.]

Come on. Let's keep going.
armoured: (thin] neutrality)

[personal profile] armoured 2017-01-30 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a creeping part of Al that understands that Tony is right, and that he does need to take good care of himself so as not to worry his friends, but the manner in which it's told to him does nothing except get him bristling.]

You don't-- How dare you think I ever want to make people afraid for me or walk into danger on purpose, you-- You don't know me at all.

[Furious, he stalks off in the opposite direction to Tony.]
