While confusingly similar, the area is split into a few different sections:

The Core
The hallways here are narrow and twist at a rapid rate. With how dazzlingly white everything is, it's easy to not realize you're coming on a turn and slam right into the walls. There are no rooms here--no one starts here, though they may find it while they wander. At the center is a large, round area, like the center of a spiral. There's a lot of air pressure here.

The Inner Hallways
The largest area, filled with dead ends, gentle slopes and twists, and, occasionally, difficult-to-see drops where a higher hallway intersects with a lower one without a wall to separate them. The whole place tastes vaguely like blood. Most rooms are here--most people start here.

The Outer Hallways
The outer ring of the ball of yarn. It's not as thick with halls and twists as the other two areas, leading to a lot more boring walking in one direction. It's totally possible to circle around the same path multiple times without realizing it, as everything is so similar here. Occasionally, footsteps can be heard just outside the farthest walls. Sometimes, something breathes. There are a few rooms here--some people will start here.


Remember to note what kind of eyes your character has in their top level!

Okay. They are kind of strong.

Do you think we can fight it, and it will go away? What if I lose, and then something bad happens?

Then you have to pick yourself up again after and fight harder next time.

[There is no comforting solution there, trust him.]

Okay. That's what I'll do. Because I can be strong and brave like Corvo, so I can keep going, too.

[He's silent for a moment, but he does want to at least try and take her mind off it.]

Tell me about Corvo.

[empireofrats]

Okay. [Hilariously, this works. She enjoys telling stories as much as hearing them.] He was Lord Protector for my mother, and now he's Lord Protector for me. He was born in Serkonos, the southernmost Isle in the Empire. He has darker skin, brown eyes, and brown hair.

He's really strong, and he can fight really well. He knows how to use a sword and a gun. He said he use to work for a Duke in Serkonos, but then the Duke sent him to Emperor Euhorn, my grandfather to show they were friends. Mother made him Lord Protector.

[For a few moments, she's quiet. Then, near Bucky's ear, still quiet:] If I tell you a secret, will you keep it?

[Sometimes hearing about worlds like this is very surreal, like having a fantasy story come to life, but he can't deny that it's interesting.

The murmur next to his ear takes him by surprise.]

Yeah.

[Who is he going to tell a secret to anyway?]

[Strangely, she thinks she can trust him. He doesn't seem bad like the others she's met before.]

Corvo is Lord Protector, but he's also my father.

[advanced]

[He grunts in surprise, not sure what to do with that information.]

Why is that a secret?

[empireofrats]

Because Mother was Empress, and Corvo was Lord Protector. They didn't get married, but Mother had me.

[Scandalous, Bucky.]

[He grunts in understanding, that would have been a scandal where he was from too.]
