[log] Event: Lavender's Green, Part Two [open]
Characters: everyone
Location: mysterious, white hallways
Date: Day 193-194
Summary: Find friends. Get lost. Don't look.
Warnings: Potential for gore and psychological horror. Please note any specific warnings in your subject lines!
While confusingly similar, the area is split into a few different sections:
The Core
The hallways here are narrow and twist at a rapid rate. With how dazzlingly white everything is, it's easy to not realize you're coming on a turn and slam right into the walls. There are no rooms here--no one starts here, though they may find it while they wander. At the center is a large, round area, like the center of a spiral. There's a lot of air pressure here.
The Inner Hallways
The largest area, filled with dead ends, gentle slopes and twists, and, occasionally, difficult-to-see drops where a higher hallway intersects with a lower one without a wall to separate them. The whole place tastes vaguely like blood. Most rooms are here--most people start here.
The Outer Hallways
The outer ring of the ball of yarn. It's not as thick with halls and twists as the other two areas, leading to a lot more boring walking in one direction. It's totally possible to circle around the same path multiple times without realizing it, as everything is so similar here. Occasionally, footsteps can be heard just outside the farthest walls. Sometimes, something breathes. There are a few rooms here--some people will start here.
Remember to note what kind of eyes your character has in their top level!

It seems to me that most people are in the North whereas I'm Downtown. I'm still learning my way around navigating and making certain I have enough time to getting inside each day. [He smiled at the offer.] A kind offer, but I can get by on my own for now.
[His hand shot out to grasp the back of Alphonse's clothing to balance the young man and help prevent a deadly dive into the drop.] All this white, I swear, is the real test here.

[He chuckles awkwardly to try and offset the sudden pounding of his heart from where he had nearly fallen. It's a good job he didn't, his bones are not nearly strong enough to stand up to that sort of punishment.]
You're doing the right thing in just making sure that you keep safe, and I'm sure there's more to find downtown. Have you seen the metal wall to the east down there? I'm sure there's something about it that's important, I just haven't found out what yet.

[He looked across the rather sizeable gap that they had to cross, but it was impossible to know how deep it was on all sizes given the continued shock of white. He crouched down, rubbing his hand over the ledge and then searching for a sign of a step or a ledge that they might be able to use in order to cross without breaking bone by falling.]
You're the young man who writes and maintains a guide, are you not? I always wondered: how dangerous of the people on that list you keep? Everyone speaks on Gravedigger but few on anyone else.
no subject
[There's a note of warm pride in his voice when he says it, always pleased to hear when one of the newer people has made use of the guide. It makes him feel as if he is doing at least something useful here, however small.]
I don't know all of them personally, but they've all done things to other residents against their will of a violent nature. I could tell you what I know, but it probably won't be a lot more than what's in the guide already.
[He leans over the side, but is still unable to see the bottom.]
I'm sorry to ask this, but do you think you could support my weight and lower me down? I might be able to feel the bottom with my feet, even if we can't see it.

[He sometimes felt the need to study it when combing through the network was too daunting, when the notes he wrote piled up. With little light to work by and only his tablet as company most nights, it was imperative that he had all the survival skills that could be offered by those who had been here longer than he. Knowing how to give advice opened the way to gaining trust. Trust meant a better opinion.]
No, I don't need accusations. Most of the network seems to spell it out anyway, but I do find myself concerned. I wish these violent individuals could find the help that they so obviously need. The poisoning and the mental affects of isolation clearly only exacerbate their reactions.
[He was still looking down the drop, trying to estimate the bottom before he needed and reached out a hand. He was old, but he didn't consider himself weak. Besides, this young man was thin and small and better not to let him drop and hurt himself.]
Let's take it nice and slow. [He began to assist Alphonse to the drop, using both hands to reduce any chance of either of their grips slipping during the process.]
no subject
Some of them don't want help, but... you're right, we should be trying to find ways around the situation without making it worse.
[He winces as he's lowered down, the strain on his arms pretty severe. At least he only weighs about the same as the average eight year old to carry.]
Just-- just a bit lower, I think I felt the floor just then when I stretched.

I suppose that clashing personalities make that difficult, but I feel that a common goal would help with that. Delegating tasks to suit the skills we have. It seems wasteful to let everyone wander about without putting their best foot forward. Has there ever been a gathering of every single person for a meeting?
[He would be told that the anomalies, but if they had a meeting, and all separated back to smaller groups, it would hopefully limit that possibility. He doubted it was a novel concept.
Instead he concentrated on lowering Alphonse as far as his arms could reach, even if it meant half hanging off of the ledge himself.]
Do you need a little more?
no subject
Y-Yeah, but I'll tell you in a minute just... I think you'll just have to let go and let me fall.
[He doesn't want to risk Pierce toppling over on top of him.]
no subject
That's not happening, son. We're in this together now, and if I drop you, the best case scenario is that you are trapped there with no way out.
[Instead, he took a risk of shifting forward, almost upending himself in the process but giving Alphonse a few more precious inches.]
If you still can't touch, I'm pulling you back out.
no subject
Yeah, I've got it!
[Close enough, anyway.]
Let go, and I'll see if I can find something to help you get down too.
no subject
Careful, son. I would be hard-pressed to make rope out of nothing.
no subject
Uh-- it's further down than I thought. Wait here for a while and I'll go further along and see if I can find something to help you down. If I don't come back in fifteen minutes, turn back and go on without me.
no subject
This was all the young man's decision, and he was curious as to this almost reckless sense of adventure. It reminded him of better days.]
Shout if you find something interesting, and I will be certain to cheer you on. I will remain for thirty minutes.
no subject
[He flashes a thumbs up and a smile back to Pierce, before turning and heading off down the lower corridor. Unfortunately, with the way these corridors seem to change and how difficult they are to navigate, he doesn't manage to make it back to any ledge until well after the thirty minute deadline.
But he will remember to try and contact Pierce if he manages to get out of here.]
