While confusingly similar, the area is split into a few different sections:

The Core
The hallways here are narrow and twist at a rapid rate. With how dazzlingly white everything is, it's easy to not realize you're coming on a turn and slam right into the walls. There are no rooms here--no one starts here, though they may find it while they wander. At the center is a large, round area, like the center of a spiral. There's a lot of air pressure here.

The Inner Hallways
The largest area, filled with dead ends, gentle slopes and twists, and, occasionally, difficult-to-see drops where a higher hallway intersects with a lower one without a wall to separate them. The whole place tastes vaguely like blood. Most rooms are here--most people start here.

The Outer Hallways
The outer ring of the ball of yarn. It's not as thick with halls and twists as the other two areas, leading to a lot more boring walking in one direction. It's totally possible to circle around the same path multiple times without realizing it, as everything is so similar here. Occasionally, footsteps can be heard just outside the farthest walls. Sometimes, something breathes. There are a few rooms here--some people will start here.


Remember to note what kind of eyes your character has in their top level!

Did he let you do all that without complaining?

[Claire chuckles at the thought. When they talked before, they drew parallels between Corvo and Matt. And thinking of Matt, wearing lipstick and a nice little bow in his hair, she can't imagine he wouldn't have whined about it, if only a little.]

[Emily nods.] He did all of it without complaining, yes. Kind of. He didn't look too happy when he saw himself in the mirror--at first. He said all of the things on his face felt funny, but then he smiled and said thank you anyway.

He sounds like a very nice man. [Very patient.]

So, you spent most of your time with your mom and Corvo? What about your dad?

[empireofrats]

[YIKES.] I don't have one... Mother said Father died when I was a baby, so I wouldn't remember him. [But it's obvious to most who chose to speculate the exact relationship between Jessamine and Corvo.

Most of the people in Dunwall did, too.]

Oh, I'm so sorry.

[Claire frowns down at Emily, once again wishing her hands would work so she could give her some physical reassurance. A hug can go a long way.]

I was never very close to my father, myself. It's always been my mom and my sister. The three of us against the world kinda thing, you know?

I've... I had Mother, and I have Corvo, the Lord Protector. Everyone else didn't talk to me much, or they were mean. Like the Spymaster. He's the one who had Mother killed.

What's it like to have a sister?

[Claire takes a breath, looking ahead for a moment as she thinks about it.]

It's kinda great. We fought all the time, when we were kids, and even as teens. Over clothes, toys, who presented at the science fair best. But as we grew older, we grew closer. We share everything. She's my best friend.

[Emily isn't sure if she would want a sister or not. She hasn't had any siblings, being an only child. In fact, she hasn't had many friends her age at all, being surrounded by adults as an Empress heir.] That sounds nice. To always have a friend.

I don't have any brothers or sisters.

It's very nice. Sometimes, especially when you're growing up, it's difficult. But it's great to have someone your own age, or close, to talk to. Did you have that?
