While confusingly similar, the area is split into a few different sections:
The Core
The hallways here are narrow and twist at a rapid rate. With how dazzlingly white everything is, it's easy to not realize you're coming on a turn and slam right into the walls. There are no rooms here--no one starts here, though they may find it while they wander. At the center is a large, round area, like the center of a spiral. There's a lot of air pressure here.
The Inner Hallways
The largest area, filled with dead ends, gentle slopes and twists, and, occasionally, difficult-to-see drops where a higher hallway intersects with a lower one without a wall to separate them. The whole place tastes vaguely like blood. Most rooms are here--most people start here.
The Outer Hallways
The outer ring of the ball of yarn. It's not as thick with halls and twists as the other two areas, leading to a lot more boring walking in one direction. It's totally possible to circle around the same path multiple times without realizing it, as everything is so similar here. Occasionally, footsteps can be heard just outside the farthest walls. Sometimes, something breathes. There are a few rooms here--some people will start here.
Remember to note what kind of eyes your character has in their top level!

[ Glancing Al back in the eyes, it makes him wonder if they'd be lucky enough that they'd separate those with the eyes they have from those that have glowing ones. But he doubts they're that lucky. Zack bites his lip as he seems to think. ]
Either way, guess we're gonna find out one way or the other. In the meantime, you've got two choices. You can either get on my back or I pick your butt up off the ground.
[ He can only imagine how far Al's walked on his own as it is... ]

[His eyes open wide and then he steps back, hands raised and head shaking.]
No. No way. I can walk on my own, Zack, I don't need to be carried around.

[ He's careful at least when he easily follows, hand out to try to catch his. Only faltering at the flicker of someone else's frightened eyes. He leaves his hand hanging in the air then as he collects himself, eyes on the floor. ]
I don't mean any disrespect, but I'm not clueless about how frail you are right now. I know you don't wanna depend on others, but please. Let me help you since I'm actually here. You aren't gonna slow me down.

Fine. [ But he can't promise he'll do it if he's not thinking about that. If he's not willing to let him die, right?
He can't make a promise like that. He could never leave Cloud behind- and he's certainly not about to leave Al like that if it were to come to it. ]

[ He holds his hand out to shake on it. ] Promise.

[A piggyback position also gives him more freedom of when to jump off himself, if Zack doesn't honour his promise.]

Then, he wastes no time adjusting his bag to the side to give Al the room to climb aboard before crouching down low. His hands reach behind him as he nudges back. ]

So he carefully climbs on, his weight almost nothing at all as he holds on.]

Way ahead of you there, buddy.
[ Then, he moves. He's not as quick as he used to be. Not even just because of enhancements anymore. Six months more or less imprisoned in a deserted, freezing town can do a lot to a body. But he still takes on a quick and even pace. Not overly hurried but knowing that this is far from some walk in the park. The only really notable thing is the odd, stiff gait to his walk from time to time, muscles in his shoulders tensing unexpectedly despite how light Al is. ] Wonder how far this maze goes...

I don't know, I guess the only way to find out is to look.
[He does notice the way Zack seems to be in pain at random moments, but he won't bring it up yet. Instead, he just keeps a watch on the corridors as they explore.]
