then how do you suppose we do ANYTHING about this? I mean the virtual reality systems I know have some kind of safety. it's the only way you're gonna cancel out of a program or change it. otherwise you'd be pretty screwed. my mentor had it in hotwired to his phs. and if I had to I could pull the gear off my head.

Don't put words in my mouth! Since when in the hell did I ever ignore them!? And why in the hell would I do that!? I don't just go around telling people I'm SOLDIER for the sake of title or somethin'! I damn well know the stakes! I've seen them! I've lost friends here that I will never get back! And I know for damn certain I'll lose more by the end of this! Hell, I might not even make it out alive either! All of us might die in the endand this'll all have been in vain!

But it's not the end yet, Steph, so quit talking like it is! It's not a damn daydream to fight tooth and nail for what you want! It's how you survive! You gotta want it enough!

I've been talking this way from day one and I'm not going to stop now just because it freaks you out. You don't beat impossible odds by pretending they aren't impossible. You beat them by working with what you have. What we don't have is a fucking safety net in case whatever the fuck this is goes wrong.
