[network] @IAmLegend; video; Day 182 [open]
In case anyone hasn't spoken to a friend for obvious reasons, we seem to have all cooled off. I know now might not seem like the best time, but after what happened it's more important to keep in contact with each other and stay with people.
[Tony really wishes Steve were here. It should be him making this kind of announcement.]
What happened the day before wasn't an accident. It was something, the town maybe, trying to reach out and assert its influence over all of us. And if we react by dropping the work everyone has done so far? It wins. It gets exactly what it wants, because all of us break apart, making us easier to pick off. Or we give up. What we should be doing is pushing back and finding out who the prophet really is. We need to try to figure out what they intend to do for our own safety.
If there's anything I can do to help the rest of you, I still intend to do that. I'm not going to stop. I want everyone to be safe. And the best way to help each other is communication. Like the man said yesterday, don't shut down. He's a good guy.
So, on that note, my name is Tony Stark. I'm considered a superhero on the Earth I come from. We handle organizations that want to endanger the world, the occasional intergalactic threat, and... Things like this when they happen. Some of you might consider that a police force, but we're more of a general emergency response solution. I just want to give you a fair idea of who I am.
[He's holding the tablet up so he can address them properly, and raises his off-hand to gesture.]
Also, I have questions. First, how are your eyes? If you are still showing signs of change, I'd like to know. Do you feel different? Secondly, if you are alone right now and weren't with someone when this started, please check in. Let us know everyone is still here and no one is stranded without help. And if you have questions, today I'm going to be completely open.

And why should we trust you anyway? What did you do the other night?
[Sorry Tony, Charles still isn't in a very great mood.]

[He knows they're going to argue, but Cap couldn't give up.]
I was dancing naked in the woods with the Devil.

And don't be fuckin' cheeky. The fact that you don't wanna say what you were up to means you probably lost your mind and tried to kill people.
[Or it means Charles is being paranoid. Or that.]
no subject
You're overreacting.
[Well, no, he's right about Tony's eyes, but Tony doesn't want to get into that. More reasons to mistrust each other is exactly what he's trying to fight against.]
i apologize for paranoia town (also for how late this is)
Listen. I killed my best friend that night. I had to, because he wanted to gut me like a fish. A kid I've been traveling with for weeks tried to open me up because I was a "dirty sinner". And you think I'm overreacting?
I fucking knew it already, that you were all going to try to kill me- us. That you would try to kill us. How the fuck do we know you won't do it again?
And if you didn't notice, it didn't matter who was alone and who wasn't by the end. Everybody was everywhere.
I love Charles! Never be sorry.
[Easy there, spitfire. He knows it's bad.]
What happened was terrible. But responding by turning to paranoid delusions isn't going to help anyone. Yes, there is a real threat that people could be used again. The only way to prevent that is to keep watch. You can either stay in contact or be surprised when someone manages to catch you without a plan. This isn't avoidable.
Everyone was everywhere, so do you really think you'll be able to just avoid whatever this town has in store for us? Be serious. If you avoid everyone, do you think you'll manage to just dodge the bullet if whoever caused the last problem doesn't want you to? They'll know where you are.
ouo
If he hadn't seen the change himself, if Quark hadn't attacked him before he ran off, he never would've known what was happening. They could've found him in his sleep for christ's sake. Fuck.]
So you're saying... we should stick together so that we're not caught off guard. So we see it first. So we can, you know. Take preventative measures.
[He'll leave that up to Tony to decipher.]
kisses him
[He's just laying out what he sees. Yes, it was a horrible situation that he also fell victim to. And Tony does feel bad for his part of it, but he also thinks like a hero and a company leader. If people aren't working together, they're going to repeat the same problems.]
And this turned friends against each other. You really think that your friends wanted to hurt you? Whatever they used to do that could affect anyone. If it is enough to make people act against their own wishes that much, there's no way to say that next time you won't go crazy. Or that you won't just get sick instead.
If we already think we know where the threat is coming from, then they can switch it up easily. So how about we don't all run in a blind panic and give them what they're aiming for?
no subject
I know they didn't want to. They said as much, but it didn't matter. The town doesn't seem to pull the same shit twice, but what if they're just like that now? Like if their eyes didn't change. What if they're just like, infected or something?
That means we have to keep a watch on them, right?
But then like you said, what if we're watching them, and the threat comes from behind us?
[He's rambling. On some level, he knows he isn't making a whole lot of sense. But he can't help it. It's like he needs someone else to hear this.]
no subject
If they're infected, then we'll know if we just keep in contact. As soon as we lose it, we can be alert. If it's something else, then at least we won't be caught off guard on all sides. You can't actually protect yourself if you don't create some kind of limit to where the problems can get you.
I know. I know it's bad. [And he means it. He does know.] But we aren't going to get anything better by assuming everyone is an enemy. You'll just be creating more threats out of people that quite likely are just as wary as you are and want to be left alone. Let's at least try not to escalate the situation, okay? Until we see proof, at least.
no subject
I'll keep an eye on the people I give a shit about, though. Make sure they don't lose their shit again.
no subject
And, hey, if they are only residual effects and nothing else happens? Then good. At least we were safe about it and not jumping on each other prematurely.
no subject
[Tony's right, not that he likes it.]
no subject
I'll let you know if I notice anything, too. That'll help give you a warning if you need one.
