[log] Clawful Diagsnowsis [open]
Characters: Clan Vamperion, Claire, Mr. Toe Beans, Sora, and Vanitas.
Location Hospital
Date: 173 Night
Summary:
Warnings: Vampires, Rhys, Vanitas, and Hospital Spookiness.
[ 131: The roof of a large, square hospital. At first, it seems like this is as far as you can go--but actually, there's a door on the rooftop. It's locked, but there's a card key reader attached. As for what spared it from having its parts stripped? It was frozen over with ice, though not any longer. The building can now be entered from the rooftop.
The hospital is eerie in its silence, and snow presses in against many of the windows, keeping much of it in sterile darkness. It still smells like a hospital; the antiseptic is fresh, and there isn't much dust. Someone must be cleaning it, and yet it's clear no one is here. The hospital is four stories high with one basement, all connected via the elevator lobby and staircase. Unfortunately, the wall of the elevator lobby has been torn open all the way down, exposing it to the bitter air outside. While you can explore and remain on most of the floors of the hospital at night, you cannot travel between them until it's daytime once more, as the lobby seals itself up at curfew. The staircase is its own separate enclosed area, but it too seals itself off from the lobby at night, so you'll be spending an uncomfortable night on the staircase if you get stuck there. "ALPHONSE ELRIC, DAY ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY ONE, TRAVELLING SOUTH. IF ANY ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED CONTACT @LELRIC ANY TIME" is carved into the wall by the rooftop entranceALPHONSE ELRIC, DAY ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY THREE, TRAVELLING SOUTH. IF ANY ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED CONTACT @LELRIC ANY TIME. "ALPHONSE ELRIC, DAY ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY TWO, TRAVELLING SOUTH. IF ANY ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED CONTACT @LELRIC ANY TIME" is carved into the wall by the south entrance. "ALPHONSE ELRIC, DAY ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SEVEN, TRAVELLING NORTH, IF ANY ASSISTANCE IS REQUIRED CONTACT @LELRIC ANY TIME" is written on one of the walls. "ALPHONSE ELRIC, DAY ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY NINE, CONTACT @LELRIC FOR ANY ASSISTANCE." is written on one of the walls.]

sad noodle, open as heckie
Guuuuys...?
[ He calls as he slumps down a hall, sounding a lot more helpless than he'd ever like to.
Eventually, he does stay put in one of the rooms, nesting in a corner. Eye fluttering, but sleep eluding him. ]

That's what she's doing - mapping one of the floors for herself - when she finds Rhys. She hears his voice, but it takes her a couple minutes to spot him, curled up in the corner of a room.]
Rhys?
[She approaches slowly, hands up, like she's trying to show she's not dangerous, like he's a skittish animal.]
Are you okay?
no subject
But it's Claire. A friendly, welcome face. He relaxes and lets out a deep breath. ]
Hey. Yeah. Just got a little turned around. S'all.
[ The wobbling voice betrays his attempt at showing emotional stability. ]
no subject
So you were just going to stay here? [Claire chuckles, then sighs.]
It's funny, how - this place, it's actually quite reassuring to me. I spend so much time in hospitals, back home...this feels normal. Like I belong.
[Another chuckle. It's stupid, really.]
no subject
Might have something to do with the blood loss. ]
...little weird, yeah. Empty, messed-up hospitals are super creepy.
no subject
To most, maybe. But this is where I work, where I spend most of my time. You get so used to it.
[Looking around a little, Claire makes a noise.] Of course, this one, in this state...not a great example, I get it.
[She turns back to him.]
How are you feeling, really? The head, the arm, just - overall. Anything I can do?

He stops in the doorway and meows a greeting.
Human. What are you doing here. ]

Rhys wipes his face and feels hella ridiculous. It's just the cat, and cats don't judge people.
Clearly, Rhys doesn't have much cat experience. ]
Beansie - [ He clears his throat. ] Need something?
no subject
But he's not injured or otherwise in trouble, so the cat sees no reason to pass up the opportunity for more petting. He wanders over to Rhys' side and settles there, well within reach for pettings from the one arm Rhys has left. ]
no subject
You're gonna bite if I keep at it, aren't you.
no subject
Watch. Watch what happens.
He reaches over to bite the man's hand - gently, of course. ]

Rhys? What are you doing?
[ at least if Rhys hurts himself (again) they're already in a hospital. with a nurse. ]

[ He nearly sobs. It's been Quite A Few Days here, friend. He lurches closer, still hugging the wall to keep him upright. ]
I-I just got a little lost, that's all.
no subject
which is to say, have a hug. a very serious, BFF-tier hug. ]
Hey, don't wander off alone, okay? If you wanna walk around a bit, just tell me and i'll go with you.

You're not too tired?

OPEN!
Now he walks with the others through the abandoned building, his mind replaying scenes in a blur - House in the morgue, hiding here with Rydia from the familiar anomalies, and now the repeating scene of Angel dragged across the snow by the mutilated mockery of Fiona's body - and realises he gets it.
He's not great company. As soon as the group settles down in an area with available beds, he claims one, and fully intends to turn his face to the wall and feign sleep if he can't get the real thing. But he can't, and the pretence doesn't last. He feels faintly ridiculous lying like that, eyes closed by mind wide awake. Like a child pulling a blanket over his head and pretending that the outside world doesn't exist. Hiding. There's no hiding from death and decay, least of all here.
He sighs awake, turns back around and sits on the bed, staring at the room and the others in it with little idea of what to do next. If Angel were here at least they could distract each other with some morbid banter, however bad they both felt. If Angel were here... if Angel were alive.]
Would anyone mind joining me at the morgue?
[It's the only place he has any mind to explore right now.]
no subject
this one definitely won't, anyway.
he sits up and opens his mouth to answer before he's really had a chance to think about the proposition. the morgue. it wasn't that long ago that he woke up down there himself after a brief stint being dead. he has no real desire to go back down there, but... ]
Uhh, I—I can, yeah. Why not.
[ honestly, there are a lot of 'why not's, but he's not crazy about the idea of anyone heading down there alone, even if they are a vampire. not that he'd be much help should anything unfortunate happen, but at this point he'll do just about anything to take his mind off what he saw happen to Angel... and Fiona. if you could even call that thing Fiona.
he can't decide if seeing either of them down there would make him feel better or worse. ]
no subject
Rhys's friend, first of all. Maybe doing this to spare Rhys. Keep an eye on Rhys's ridiculous wreck of a vampire keeper...
He still doesn't want to go alone.]
Perhaps because it's sure to be extremely unpleasant. [But he says it without force, only with a shrug, and nods his head at Vaughn in something resembling invitation. He's already heading for the door.]
You were here, weren't you? Your body.
no subject
he follows Beckett out quietly, shrugging to himself at the "extremely unpleasant" comment. ]
Eh, can't be worse than waking up down there. But yeah, it was here. I didn't really do any looking around, though—kinda just wanted to get the hell out of there ASAP at that point.

[There was a time - not that long ago, in Norfinbury even - that he'd not have been so nonchalant or forgiving. Their only hope is in constant, stubborn exploration, and he had had no patience for those without the courage to pursue it. He's learned a few things to balance against courage, since. Or maybe he's just lost his own nerve.
He broods on that for a few moments before realizing that he is, in fact, brooding. Then he shakes himself off, like a wolf in its fur. No. Not all over Vaughn. Not on the way to the morgue.]
I've not seen this one yet. Not in person. I don't know which bodies might be... [he stops, glancing at the other man, eyebrows slightly raised.] She might be there. If you're ready for it.
[Better make certain, because he sure as hell isn't certain he is.]

Do you want Vaughn to find Fiona's body?
Open~
He made it just before lockdown and stumbled inside, each breath sounding slightly watery but it was hard to tell for sure since he started coughing into his arm not long after he stepped inside. After a quick look around he made his way to the nurse's station where he had a drop point set up to check on it before he moved some of the stuff out of the way to hunker down for the time being.
Just for a few minutes, that's all. He just needed to catch his breath.]
you got buried, sorry dude
The wool coat and sweat pants hid most of the familiar outfit, but his boots, gloves, and
hula skirtwaist capelet were still visible. Crossing over with ease and stopping just out of hands reach. It's weird expecting to feel the usual thrum of anger and bitterness towards the boy, but he felt nothing. It was completely gone. ]
What do we have here? [ Crossing his arms against his chest. ]
no subject
Some habits just die hard.]
What are you doing here?
I thought I tagged this back. Sorry.
Taking in the sights. [ There's an undercurrent of sarcasm to his words. ] It's lock down. What do you think?
No worries!
[He really wants the other to take off his helmet. He wants to know if what Kanan said is true.]
