I have no experience with it whatsoever.

Private detectives work inside the law but not in conjunction with the police department. They are an alternative for those who feel the police will not handle the case correctly, or who have cases that fall outside police guidelines - such as adulterous partners.

I see. Does working with the police make your job easier or more difficult?

Much more difficult. Scotland Yard are hardly a shining example of England's finest minds.

Yet they're a world renowned police agency....

And there is the problem with the world's collective law enforcement agencies summed up in one sentence.

They could stand to live up to their reputation.
