Oh. I'm still getting used to these things.

[Still worrying the inside of her bottom lip, Claire nods.]

It wasn't you so much than just. What gets broadcast on this network, where does it go, you know? Matt doesn't need anyone to have more ammo against him.

[Or against her. She can see it, his face as he tells her that he never wanted her to get this involved. His face as he stitched her up. She swallows hard.]

He's my friend, too. But the one, here - [She motions up, like it explains his earlier entry to the Arrivals log.] - he's not... [She doesn't want to say mine, even if it's the only word on her tongue for a long time.]

Pretty sure he's not the one from my world.

Ah, well, it's always a good idea to watch what you say. What makes you say he isn't the Matt you know?

The Matt I know wouldn't wear that suit in a million years.

[She chuckles. He really wouldn't, but it's far from being the only thing.]

He doesn't...look the same, either.

[Natasha scoffs.]

I wish I hadn't been forced to see that suit.

Are the differences major?

Same. It's terrible.

[She shrugs.]

It's only one thing that I can notice so far, but it's significant. Hair color and cut is very different.

Interesting. Maybe I'm a blonde somewhere.

Maybe. And maybe I exist in your world.

I wouldn't be surprised. So, how much do you know about me from your world?

Very little, only what I've seen on TV, on the news. Natasha Romanov, former Russian spy, now working alongside the rest of the Avengers.

[Claire purses her lips together.]

I have no ties with any of you, and neither does Matt, as far as I know. Back home, it's you, Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, the Hulk, and Thor.

I see.

[That lines up with what Steve told her, at least.]

Things are more complex than that where I'm from. Daredevil and I were partners before I was an Avenger.

[Which was all over the tabloids and newspapers, so she doesn't really mind if Claire knows.]

Right.

[Claire thinks of the Matt from her own world, and imagines he'd have liked that.]

He's only become active recently, back home. Long after the Battle of New York, which exposed the Avengers to the world. He's trying to take down this corrupt politician, Fisk.

And how did you meet him?

[She shrugs.]

H got into a fight with Russian thugs, and landed in my dumpster, with a collapsed lungs, broken ribs, and lacerations all over his body. My kid neighbor found him and told me.

He certainly makes an impression, doesn't he?

[And takes a lot of beatings. Oh, Matt.]

You said you were a nurse. What kind of nurse?

[It's honestly starting to feel like an interrogation, which is slightly irritating. What is Natasha trying to get at?]

ER nurse. Why? Gonna run a background check on me?

There's a huge difference between a hospice nurse and an ER nurse. It's important to know if you can actually work under pressure if you're advertising your skills the way you are.

[It takes Claire a moment to respond. Her first instinct is to get aggravated - who does she think she is, etc etc. But it passes quickly; Claire has no time for this.]

Seems like you don't give enough credit to hospice nurses. [They deal with plenty of pressure. It's just a different kind.]

But, by all means, nobody's asking you to trust me, but I'm confident in my skills.
