seems this admin lady has deemed my sterile bandages and antiseptic wipes to be okay to bring here with me, but left the rest of my kid home. Still, it's a limited supply, and I really could do with needle and thread for small emergencies...

[In her notepad file, she jolts down, hospital, pharmacy, vet. All good places to look at.]

is everyone around alright? [She imagines not.] is there anyone i can be useful to?

I've been looking for a needle and thread since I arrived here, myself. No luck, yet, I'm afraid. I hope you'll have better luck. I'm rather in need of stitches, myself, at the moment, but I'm making do.

No one, to my knowledge, requires immediate medical attention that we're capable of rendering outside myself and a patient I'm presently traveling with. I did some extensive tissue removal due to frostbite and gangrene. His wounds have been cauterized. We're just trying to continue to pick up items I can use to switch out his bandages periodically.

Also something to note, we have something like a clinic just west of the school. There are two buildings paired together. One of them has a shower with limited hot water and a bed with a large comforter. It's a good place to rest and is very near the school food source. We have a few sundry items stored between those two houses, as well.

[She frowns, deep. He is in need of stitches?]

I may be able to get a needle soon; thread is easy to come by. Should I try to intercept you? I can give some of my bandages for your patient, as well. How are you making do? What's the injury?

[She adds the info about the makeshift clinic to her notes, nodding to herself.]

Thanks for the info. It's not really on my way right now, at least, I don't believe so. But if I end up going past it, I'll definitely have a look. Is that where you're headed, since you're injured?

[He'll switch to private because he doesn't actually want people knowing the extent of his injuries. Someone who knows medicine and might be looking at them is a different story.]

One or more of the tendons at the back of my right thigh have been nicked, possibly severed. Based on where I was stabbed, probably the biceps femoris or semitendinosus.

[Maybe both.]

I'm using bandages and turning them into a tourniquet when the bleeding picks up, drinking plenty of water, just trying not to move. Some of my ribs are broken, as well, which is making things a little more difficult. I would, very much appreciate the bandages for my patient, though. We're just south of the school. We'll be heading there for food, then I'm back to the hospital to meet up with a friend.

I was planning on going to the hospital, too. We could meet. I'm north east, close to the convenience store.

[That's not good. He's probably barely able to walk, if at all, and he might be slowly bleeding out. She might have just met him, but that's just not going to work for her.]

How is your breathing?

Pained, but steady. My nose is broken, as well, so it's a bit rough breathing, in general. I'm taking Tramadol in the evenings and ibuprofen during the day. I'm guessing it's a hairline fracture more than something serious for my ribs.

[It better be, because Claire is not looking to perform yet another emergency pneumothorax in terrible conditions, okay, Watson? Okay.]

What are your plans? I'd like to see you. I know you are one, but you doctors are really good at not taking care of yourself. I'm new, impartial to whatever happened that got you in that situation, and I'd like to help.

Are you going straight to the hospital, or are you stopping at the clinic for some rest?

I'll be heading to the clinic with my patient while some traveling companions gather food tomorrow. We're not planning to stay, though. I need to get to the hospital. I have a friend who's going to meet me there.

[He's the asshole up a little ways.]

I appreciate your offer of help, but you don't need to come out of your way for me if you've got any other plans.

[Yep. She's a little bitter about that.]

two, you need assistance, which i can give you. and three, the hospital seems like a good place to look for supplies, isn't it? so i might as well.

don't protest, Dr Watson. it'll just make me more determined.

I feel like I ought to be saluting and saying, 'M'am, yes m'am!'

I just didn't want to interrupt if there was anyone else you had plans to help. We should be down at the hospital in three or four days if the weather stays clear.

[She smiles again, even though he can't see it, and nods appreciatively.]

so far, nobody else has come forward with any injuries that need looked after. I'll be making my way south tomorrow morning, but i am not sure yet how long it will take me to get to the hospital. I shall keep you posted!
