[The slight headache he woke up with is causing some lethargy, not to mention his hunger and stiffness from the cold. It takes him a great effort to understand typing, and being as he does not understand the technology it sounds almost like an entry in a journal rather than something he really expects anyone to see.]

Upon this hard screen I saw information, I would know if there are others reading this. The dawn saw an unnatural light risen from the ground rather than fallen from the sky. I do not know what it is. Could it be common or known to this place?

[Zelos doesn't miss the unnatural tone of the text, but he sits down to type a reply regardless. The light had him startled, and if anyone can provide at least some more insight on what the hell it was, he'll take it.]

[Altaïr feels both relieved and unnerved simultaneously that someone out there saw, read, understood and has replied to the words he painstakingly typed. It seems unbelievable without ink, paper and pigeon for this to be possible and he does not trust it, yet.

His response is a long time coming as he pecks with one finger at the small display of letters.]

Yes. I have not seen its like before. Do you know what it is? Who are you?

Nope. No idea. Just got here yesterday, and no one's handed me a memo for crap like this yet.

[Although he is reminded of both the Oracle and the way the Tower of Salvation supposedly appears. He can see no tower though, and doesn't believe there's any relation. Guess strange light phenomena are just a common thing in every world?

As for his name, he's not sure what the guy needs it for, but it's not like it can hurt.]

Zelos is the name. You planned to tell me yours, stranger?

[Altaïr finds this person's vernacular confusing and he has to read it over a few times before he slowly types a response]

Altaïr. Where are you from?

... Right. So you'll be Al.

[Because he's not gonna try and type this guy's full name, much less figure out how to pronounce it.]

I'm from a place you probably haven't heard of.

Unless Meltokio rings a bell?

[ Ellana has a bit of a headache too, but it's mostly manifested itself as blurred vision and light sensitivity. So much so that she's holding off on exploring outside because she's waiting for the feeling to pass. But she has been to the window to see the light in the distance. ]

No one has mentioned to me that they've seen a light like that here before. This is my fourth day here, and it's new to me.

[What a strange wording, Altaïr thinks, recognizing that his own situation mirrors such a mysterious turn of phrase, this is my fourth day here. It is only his second day here however, although he is no closer to knowing answers, of where here is exactly, and why someone has brought him here.

His reply comes slowly.]

From where were you, before you were here? Did you arrive suddenly and without warning?

It was a place called the Arbor Wilds. And it certainly wasn't snowing there. I did arrive without warning, but I thought it had to do with the way I was traveling. That is, until I spoke with others here through this tablet and found we all arrived without warning, no matter what we were doing at the time back home.

[Altaïr had chosen, for ill or good, to largely ignore the tablet all day yesterday. Even now he doesn't trust the thing but as it seems the only immediate source of answers her he is.]

In the Arbor Wilds were there shafts of light from the ground?

Were there tablets?

No, neither. This isn't much like home. What about your home? Is this similar for you?

[ Jim saw the beacon as soon as he woke a few minutes ago and had been staring at it until it occurred to him to check the network for information. The light of the tablet hurts his eyes, but he squints through the pain to read Altaïr's message.]

I don't think it was here yesterday. Maybe it's some kind of signal, or call for help.

[Altaïr visibly reacts to seeing the face on the device so suddenly: he sits back quickly, his chin lowering casting a greater shadow over his face from the white hood he wears, and his scarred mouth turns down in a hard frown.

He takes a moment to turn the device over once and look at it, he looks all around it, before he hesitantly speaks in return. Altaïr has a slight accent although speaking English was something he could do before and it does not alarm him now.]

How am I seeing you? How do I hear you?

[ Jim himself is new to instantaneous communication in practice if not in theory, but this guy - this guy is something else. He refocuses his attention from the beam to Altaïr's face on the screen and opens his mouth, only to find that he's struggling to explain. He shuts it again and frowns for a moment before waving vaguely at the screen. ]

The tablet. it's taking a - a picture, I guess, and it picks up on your voice. Turns that into information and sends it to my tablet that turns it back into picture and sound.

[This sounds like nonsense to him, yet the proof is literally in his hands. Altaïr remembers suddenly the unbelievable sights that had shown from the Apple of Eden, projected through midair like a living and breathing map. If such wonders existed where he lived he supposes it's more in the realm of believable that even greater wonders exist in other places.

In other words, he'll have to take this young man's word on the matter and research it later on his own.]

Have you seen anything such as this light before?

Here? No, I just got here yesterday.

I think I'm going to follow it.
