[log] General Hospital [closed]
Characters: Watson, Charles, Charlie, England, Luna, Ecks, Fiona, and anyone else who pops over for a quick visit
Location Building 34
Date: Day 145 - 147
Summary: A surgery party along with other affairs.
Warnings: Some discussion of eye squick.
[Most of this house is in ruins--to get to the door requires walking over some rubble of the ruined house, although it seems like someone has moved the worst of it, allowing easier access to the house. The intact door leads to two intact rooms, and therefore it can be used as an overnight shelter. The door opens to a master bedroom with a large mattress and a thick comforter--too thick to carry without trouble, but nice for staying overnight here. The master bedroom is attached to a functioning master bathroom; the most important thing to note here is that it has a working shower with about ten minutes of hot water every day. One nightstand has been broken apart and burned. Written on the wall is "EMERGENCY RATIONS IN NIGHTSTAND. MEETING DAY 67, HOUSE TO NORTHWEST. CONTACT @CMDRSHEPARD". Carved on the wall is "ALPHONSE ELRIC, DAY NINETY-FIVE, TRAVELLING NORTH. IF ANY ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED CONTACT @LELRIC ANY TIME". One of the cabinets is marked with an X made of blue painter's tape. The following is written in blue ink on the wall: "This is Building 52 on the composite map. Medical assistance and hot, clean water available here. Toiletry supplies in bathroom cabinets. Contact @CaptSteveRogers for details." Underneath this is a pretty accurate map showing the house in relation to the west snow wall, the funeral home, the park, the convenience store, the school and athletic shed, and buildings 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 28, 31, 35, and 37. House 35 is labeled "Extra supplies in kitchen cabinets." The snow wall is labeled "Snow wall." The park is labeled "Park." The convenience store is labeled "Convenience store; unlike store in northeast this is not a source of food." The school is labeled "School. Food available in cafeteria; DO NOT STAY HERE OVERNIGHT." The athletic shed is labeled "Shed". The funeral home is labeled "UNSAFE; DO NOT STAY HERE OVERNIGHT."]

145, for Watson!
She exhales, some mixture of relief and dismay. He's fine, of course. This outcome is far better than what she'd expected, but part of her is still pissed off about it, so she crosses the room impulsively and hugs him tight.]
Hey. Working on that bandit look, huh?
no subject
Couldn't find a good hat for it. Making do as you can.
[He pulls back and looks her over with a concerned eye.]
You're all right, as well? No problems getting here?
no subject
Don't start. I'm fine. Are you okay?
no subject
[Tender all over and still moving a little slowly, carefully.]
I'm also pretty sure I've never felt more loved than I have in the past few days. I think I might actually scream if another person asks to come visit me. [It's said with good humor, but really. This is a little too much fuss for a man.]

Night 146, ota
He plans to investigate the area, hopefully find a trail, and follow it. What he doesn't expect to find is a house absolutely teeming with people, most of whom he has never met before. Bucky looks a state, wearing a tatty hoodie over the top of clothing made of black leather and straps. He freezes in the doorway and is just turning around to leave again, when it slams and locks.
Experience has taught him that he won't be able to break out, so he tries to edge around the group and find a more deserted corner to sit in. But if anyone does approach then he'll be generous enough to hold out an energy bar he found a couple of days ago. Almost like a silent offering to bribe whoever it is to take it and leave him alone.]

paranoidmature for that now -- but she has claimed a corner from which she peers at the man who arrives a little while after her.It is fortunate that Doctor House is not here, she decides. She doesn't mean to seem hostile in the slightest, but the blank, ongoing stare with which she greets the assassin probably isn't the friendliest-looking thing in the world.]
no subject
Where's your friend?
no subject
He no to be here.
[In some circumstances it is better not to admit an ally is absent. In this circumstance, however, Doctor House's presence would be a liability.

He groans and sits up and that's when he sees the new guy sitting in the corner. It's dark, but there's definitely one more shadowy blob of a person than there was when Watson put him out.
Cool, he's definitely in the mood to make new friends.]
Um. Hi. Who are you? [He's groggy and his voice is still hoarse but anyway hello Bucky, what's up?]
no subject
His head whips around as soon as he knows he's not the only person awake any longer, voice low in the gloom.]
Go back to to sleep.

Day 145 and Day 146
[They arrive sometime in the afternoon at the clinic, and John wastes no time setting his things aside and going to have a look around the room. It's unlikely there will be signs of Peggy left, but he has to try, at least. He can be found moving slowly around the room, stopping at any odd scuffs on the floor or markings on the wall, eyes searching for strands of brown hair, a note, anything.
He's looking a little worse for wear with a bandage over his right ear and a sweatband holding that in place beneath his ball cap. He really needs to find a better hat for this weather.]
B - 146
[The next day is surgery day for Charlie. Before that, Watson's spending his time prepping supplies, making sure everything is neat and set, and going through the procedure in his mind's eye.
After all is said and done, he'll be sticking near Charlie's bedside for a while, just to make certain the other man is doing all right, that there aren't any complications, and that he's generally comfortable. But he's available for talking and will smile wearily at anyone who comes by.]
b
Watson has only ever been text on the other end of the tablet for him, so he doesn't even recognise the man stood by the table. But it doesn't take amazing deductive skills to work out he must be the doctor who operated, and he only knew of one doctor in this area.
It doesn't make his approach any less cautious.]
Dr. Watson?
no subject
That's me. Jay? Looked for signs of Ms. Carter yesterday here and next door, and the group we sent over to the school and shed checked there today. We didn't find anything, no signs of any struggle or anything untoward. At least not in the building. [His brows furrow.] I'm sorry, sir.
no subject
He nods, expression blank.]
I know where to look next.
[He takes off his baseball hat and rubs a gloved hand through greasy and tangled hair. It's not a thanks, per se, but he does offer something more than that abrupt statement.]
You did what you could.

A, later in the evening
It's only when the light starts to disappear from outside that she places a hand on Watson's shoulder, her voice quiet.]
Would you let me check your dressing, when you have a moment?
no subject
Sure. Let's head into the 'loo.
[It both provides a convenient counter and privacy in case people don't want to stare at his mangled ear while it's healing.]
You've been quiet today. [He says once he's put down the toilet lid and sat himself down on it.] What's wrong?
no subject
O-oh... I...
N-nothing, really. [An obvious lie.] I've just been, um... worried about you. T-the men involved with Beckett, too.

145, midday, also for Luna
She shuts the door behind her, giving the others in the room a wary look, and picks a wall to edge along in order to get to someone she actually wants to talk to. She'll leave her scarf on for now, even going so far as to reach up and adjust it to cover more of her face.]
Doctor Watson?
no subject
[They hadn't parted on the... best terms, but dying had changed things from his side. His gaze searches her be-scarfed face.]
How are you doing?
[She'd wanted to show him something. He remembers that.]
no subject
[She hasn't quite shook the habit of stating the obvious, and in a way "alive" is about what can be said for their shared state in general. She glances around, internally debating whether there is anyone here who should not see the thing she has brought to show to Doctor Watson.]

Still, when Ecks gets close enough, Luna nervously nods a greeting with a curt, almost clumsy bow at the waist, staying quiet when Watson speaks to her. It's likely none of her business, but there still wasn't shame in being polite.]
A, with Charles
Huh, though. This is the clinic? Sure, okay, but yikes, there are a lot more people here than Charlie was expecting. Watson hadn't said anything about having a posse. There was that whole thing with the Joker, though. Maybe that's why everyone's here? And maybe that's why the dude Charlie assumes is Watson has all that crap on his head. They kinda match, though. That's cool.]
Uhh... Hey. [He's feeling a little awkward...] Dr. Watson? Hi. What's up?
slides in here
So okay, maybe it makes sense for him to have an entourage right now. Still makes Charles nervous. He doesn't think he knows either of the people hanging around on the sidelines.
... But Watson trusts them, apparently. And Watson agreed to help him and Charlie, despite not knowing them at all. So he should just ignore the bad feeling and calm the hell down.
As usual, he's been carrying the hatchet while they travel- a bit more aggressively than before they met Beckett- but he forces himself to drop it to his side.
Charlie already said the "hi", so:]
We're here. Haven't lost anymore pieces. [He squints.] Did the clown guy do that? [Gesturing to the bandages. With what is obviously great tact.]
no subject
[Enjoy your brief slide into nervous surgeon humor.]
D'you guys have enough food? Water? I've got extra food from the school. Some of the others are going to make a run over tomorrow for supplies there, so we've got plenty. I can have a look at your injuries once you're settled in and we can talk.
