[network/video] @baelfire; day 011, morning [open] [cw: character death]
[ the video opens shakily, the boy's face a little puffy and red, dark rings under his eyes like he hasn't slept over night. he's not entirely meant to turn the video on but he doesn't hustle to change it, either. it's early, maybe too early for most people to be up, he thinks. ]
What happens when someone dies? I... I have seen so many people come back, but how will we know if they will?
[ his voice comes out a little steadier than he'd thought it would, honestly. he takes a deep breath. ] How long did everyone have to wait before they came back? I... I think I'd just like to know.
And if they don't come back, what do you do then? How do you even get to say goodbye somewhere like this? Is there absolutely no way out when the doors are locked? When someone gets--
[ another deep breath. ]
Sorry.

[He cards a hand back through his hair. Robotics is a little more difficult to describe, not knowing exactly how tech-savvy the other boy is.]
I'm a robotics student back home. I learn how to piece together machines that will do things to assist people.

[ he laughs a little bit, shrugging his shoulders. ] It must be good if so many people like it. I'll have to try it some day.
[ he's so curious about the machines, about what Tadashi does with them, but he won't ask too many questions. ]
It's nice, that you do that to help people. I think we need more people like that, here. It sounds difficult, though.

[But it was likely best not to think about food for too long. He needed his supplies to last for as long as possible.]
I just wish I could do more. My dad was a doctor back before he died. I'm just trying to follow in his footsteps in my own way. Now that I'm here, I wish I'd followed a little more closely. There isn't a lot of tech to work with.
[He smiles wistfully, then shakes his head. There's no use worrying about something he can't change.]
At least there are a lot of people willing to help here. It's taking some time, but we'll have everything organized as fast as we can.

[ his own supplies are low, but he's a boy and doesn't require as much. or so he tells himself, anyway. ]
There isn't much of anything here, really. I've found some... some very strange things when I was searching. So having everyone working together might be nice -- we can... can save resources and maybe find somewhere safer to stay.
[ he's not sure why, but he trusts Tadashi, feeling quite safe when he talks to him. it worries Baelfire, in a way, because the people he cares about? well, he's always taken away from them somehow. His papa, Wendy, Hook, Tink... was this place just the same? ]
Thank you for talking to me, Tadashi. I... if I can help with anything, I want to. I don't know much about, er, tech? But I'll try!

[It has to. After they're not struggling with something so basic as having enough to eat every day, they can turn their attention to finding a way out of Norfinbury and back to their individual homes. Tadashi feels like he has to remain optimistic that things will progress in a positive direction.
Less for his sake... and more for everyone else. Like Baelfire. He seems like a sweet kid. This shouldn't be happening to him.]
Any time. I mean it. Next time I need a hand with something, I'll call you up. And don't worry about not knowing tech. I can walk you through everything you need to know.
