[There's no pithy commentary from House as is more common for the introductions to one of his piano sessions. It's also on video at the moment because House... can't figure out how to change it to just audio. He really hates this particular effect. So, anyone in Snowhell who has yet to actually see Dr. Hotstud House will get a view of him. He's a haggard, middle-aged man who's looking closer to just plain 'aged' after more than three months in Norfinbury. He has the tablet propped up where the sheet music would usually go, and keeps his eyes down or closed as he begins to play. He mouths some of the words, brows furrowed and body swaying to the music.

He runs through that. And then, because he's not going to be able to play and 'talk' to people at the same time, he moves into another tune before stopping and checking for responses.]

[Ishgard may have a lot that present themselves as well mannered, but honestly most of them are a bunch of gossipy bigots who are actually hella rude, but they're too cowardly to say it to anyone's face.

Gotta keep that noble air of politeness, since that's what's socially acceptable. Estinien doesn't give a shit about any of that.

The miming is certainly... something, but it takes only a moment for Estinien to realize this man must be a mute. At least he has personality, despite not being able to speak.]

'Tis folly to request me to sing. I have no interest in music—least of all attempting to be a minstrel.

[To be fair, it's nothing against music, he just doesn't have a lot of interest in anything beyond his special interest. He's the personification of tunnel visioning.]

[Boring.

House points at Estinien, then to his ear, then raises a hand questioningly along with tilting his head.

Why are you listening, then?]

Whilst I may have no prevailing interest, I do not despise it. 'Tis a nice change from the howling of the wind.

[He pauses a moment, as if considering something, before speaking once more:]

Is your practice through music yet a means to communicate with others?

[because... as far as he knows, House has always been a mute.]

[Yeah, okay. This guy? This guy is asking to be trolled if he can't bother to read back in the network a day or two to see that House is not, in fact, mute.

House nods, placing his hands in a heart shape over his heart and offering a look of the utmost sincerity. He then gestures, as if giving the heart to the Elezen. Totally a way to communicate his heart and feelings. Yep.]

[Look man, he's new here, and also not very good with technology. He's actually a bit of a technophobe, but maybe robophobe would better suit him. Regardless, he's a prime trolling target.]

Was this inflicted upon you?

[Him losing his ability to talk, he means. He has seen the horrors of war, and what those horrors can do to people, some never speak again, while others suffer worse fates. Maybe House was born with it, he doesn't know, he's just turning to the answer he's most familiar with.]

[That's a little too close to the truth. So. House shakes his head and mimes rocking a baby in his arms. Truly, he's been this way since he was a wee tot. He shrugs. Such is life.]

'Tis a pity.

[He says it, but his voice doesn't sound that full of sympathy. To be fair, Estinien's not the most sympathetic person.]

But talent is oft born from misfortune.

[He knows personally!]

Is this, by chance, also a profession of yours? Or more a leisurely pursuit beyond what you have already confirmed?

[Here's another rube just waiting for him to come along. Why are the Snowhell gods providing him this unwitting stock of lambs when he can't talk? It's so unfair! Okay. Well, since this guy has apparently not read the guides or looked at anything House posted... and he doesn't like music, he's totally getting taken advantage of.

House grins and nods before rubbing his fingers together in the sign for money/currency. He points to Estinien and raises his brows. And what do Mr. No Music do?]

[House will have plenty of chances later when he can regain his speech! But until then, pantomiming will just have to do.]
