I feel a fool to even ask but are there any amongst you who are currently traveling about in the south who might spare me something to eat?

I have been carefully rationing what I have since I was last able to restock but have, of late, been unable to return to the school for more supplies. There is scarce little left.

I will, of course, reimburse you somehow if I am able.

[A small sigh.]

It's better than starving. When a man or a women requires food they will scrape to the ends of their pride to get it. It depends on how far south you are. I am somewhere in the middle south, good sir.

Aye though I often pride myself on being able to survive in conditions such as this.

[A small groan. When he speaks again he sounds a little more chipper, though it seems forced.]

This last week has been incredibly unkind. So many of us seem scattered far from where we wish to be.

I am in a small building with a fireplace about a day's march outside the entrance to the ice caverns. Eastwards, if I have properly oriented myself here...

I am use to travel but nothing like this. Not as harsh as this with no where decent to shelter for the night.

[If anything he's amused a little. Though that fireplace sounds familiar. He passed it but did not search it. It was only an hour or so back from where he was and he hadn't traveled just yet today.]

I may know where you are. You're in the opposite direction I am heading and it'll take me a little difficulty getting around 'it' but if you give me your word you mean a man no harm I can assure you I can make it.

My own circles the structure but I think I can distract it long enough for you to make it to safety.

He is no longer there, I fear... I worry for him as he has been struck blind. Navigating this wretched place is trial enough even with one's sight.

I was watching a friend of mine and there was a terrible sound, like a thousand insects swarming my mind then...silence. How a noise broke the device I haven't the foggiest....

I must admit I know very little about these devices. If it can be fixed I am not the man who would be able to fix it.
