Characters: Levi, Jim, Tifa, Zack, Zell, Kunsel Location Hospital! Date: Night 76 Summary: The losers run into Levi. Best place for a slumber party ever! Warnings: General snowhell stuff, probably.
[Kunsel's never officially been taught how to sew, but the concept isn't that difficult to grasp. Needle and thread, knots and stitches, spaced relatively even and tight enough that anything between the layers can't escape. He's got his helmet off so that there's nothing obstructing his vision - at least, other than his hair, light brown and recently washed, which keeps trying to fall into his face. He hasn't been able to cut it in well over a month, and it's showing in how long it's gotten, but he just pushes it out of the way so he can see what he's doing.
Which means anyone walking into the room where they've decided to set up for the night means they'll see a SOLDIER Second Class hunched over and painstakingly trying to sew scraps of a dress and fabric from some gutted pillows together, with the pillow stuffing set off to one side.]
B [At some point during the evening, he sets the sewing aside. His fingers could use the break, honestly. So he pulls out his tablet to check the network, then look at a map. Feel free to look over his shoulder.]
You know, we're not that low on food yet, and we've got plenty of water. We could probably do some more exploring before we head back to the school.
[ Jim's... honestly pretty bored at this point. He's not Kunsel, there's only so much listening to the network he can do, and his ability to do things with his hands or search the hospital is limited by his lack of sight. It means he's a lot more eager to jump on conversation than he usually is, which is probably why he's answering Kunsel almost before he finishes talking. ]
-Did you see anything worth checking out on the way in?
[If Jim was looking for someone willing to talk, he picked right in approaching Kunsel. Kunsel smiles at the teen, though he knows Jim can't see it. It still feels good to see him again.]
There was another branch off the tunnel we came in. The guy I got my map from didn't know what was down that way. We also passed some rubble that looked like it might be worth checking out. You up for some digging?
[Not that Jim might do that much digging, but it's a less pointed way of asking Jim if he thinks he's up for that kind of travel.]
[ That sounds incredibly useful. Jim knows hardly anything about the tunnels and it's good to think they won't be back to the days of not knowing where anything was and risking being caught out in an empty area come nightfall. ]
Nice.
[ Jim remembers vividly what happened the last time he and Kunsel teamed up to dig through some rubble, but that doesn't actually stop him. If anything it makes him more curious; he grins. ]
Point me at it and I'll dig. They really did fix everything except my eyes.
It's hand drawn and probably incomplete, but yeah. I traded some cigarettes for it and a bottle of bleach from a guy who's been exploring this place.
[Does it sound like Kunsel is pleased with the results of his networking? Because he is.]
But great. [He claps a hand to Jim's shoulder.] If you're up for it, then I'm claiming you for my team. Don't think I've forgotten about your help in the house with the furniture in it. You did good work there, Jim.
[ don't mind the complete stranger in your midst. he's met a couple of the group by now, and he's just poking around the hospital when he hears yet another person and comes to investigate.
[While Kunsel hasn't actually had the chance to speak with the newcomer yet, he was aware of the man's presence, and so wasn't startled by his approach much more than turn and look back. Just to make sure.
When he confirms, a trace amount of tension fades from his shoulders.]
Yeah. There's a school up north of here. There's regularly food there, so it's a good place to resupply.
[After scrubbing down with really cold water, Zell decides it's totally okay to change in the main floor's lobby without any care. Tifa isn't around, so not big deal, right? The only ones who might be around is Jim, who is blind, and maybe one of the Soldiers.
Hopefully this doesn't wind up embarrassing, right?]
B
[Zell is fiddling with a violin. Plucking the strings to make sure it sounded it right and adjusting as he needs to. He's sitting close to his friends, and probably helping himself to leaning against anyone who is closest. Once he's satisfied, he's tucking it under his chin as he gives a grin.]
This might be a bit loud. Been a while since I've played.
C
[Bring your own adventure with stethoscopes or anything from his inventory.]
[ Jim picked up the stethoscope as he was wandering around in the hospital and stuck it in his jacket pocket, unsure of exactly what it was. He doesn't think of it again until he sticks his hands in there for warmth and remembers the weird little metal-and-plastic ... thing. He pulls it out to examine it again while he's sitting next to Zell. ]
[It probably feels funny to someone who can't see.]
Hmm? [Looking up from his tablet to look at his friend and then the thing his hands.]
Oh hey, you found a stethoscope. [That could be pretty useful for listening to conversations between sparklepuppy and helmethead any humming behind walls.]
[ It doesn't feel like any that Jim's ever seen - he can't really imagine how the little disc on the end is supposed to help you hear - but now that he has an explanation he can kind of feel out the ear pieces for what they are.
...Of course that means he's gonna put them on and try to listen to his own heart beat. ]
He figures the word isn’t something new from how Jim is already trying to listen to his own heartbeat with it. Smiling a bit as he shrugs out of his jacket.]
Are they different where you’re from?
[Scooting closer as he reaches over to lightly touch the back of Jim’s hand that’s holding the chest piece.]
[ whoa whoa whoa, he didn't sign up for this. is this dude really just changing in the middle of a lobby? to be fair, he wasn't exactly invited into the hospital, so he can't really complain. maybe this is just how they do things here.
emphasis on they, because he won't be doing it. good god. this is really awkward. he clears his throat. because obviously that will make it better, right? ]
Zell makes an awkward squawk sound once he realizes he's not alone and it's the newest person. Good news is it's not Tifa.]
Y-yo![At least he thought to get his shorts on before taking things off. Didn't quiet get anything else on though. He's split between offering to shake hands or escaping to another room to finish putting on all of the layers.]
Er. I'm Zell. Did you meet everyone else yet?
[Opting to just give a wave and turn his back to the other. THAT IS MUCH BETTER, right? He won't mind looking at another dude's back?]
[ if anyone ordered a stripper, they should probably be getting their money back right now, because that was a pretty lackluster performance. now he's stuck introducing himself to a half-naked dude.
awesome. ]
...Levi. And I don't know, how many of you are there?
[Half-naked friendly dude at the least. Just going to pull on his shirt now.]
There's six if you count Mochi. [There is a meow coming from another room in response to his name being said. The cat is soon making his way in to see if it's food time. Guess who still looks pretty fat despite living off a Snowhell diet? This guy!
He decides he's decent enough to now turn back to Levi to offer his hand.] Nice to meet you. Are you new here?
[ the hospital would be the most advanced thing he'd ever seen if it wasn't missing so much of its actual equipment. as it is, it's more like what he's already used to—just cleaner (something he deeply appreciates) and a hell of a lot bigger. and yet just like every other structure he's encountered here so far, at first glance it seems empty. he'd call out if it weren't for that whole bit about monsters or whatever. no, if he's gonna run into the abominable snowman somewhere, he'd rather it wasn't because he walking around yelling like an idiot.
fortunately, he won't be running into any yetis here (probably?). for someone like him, though, what he does run into is perhaps even more terrifying.
[ he can tell pretty quickly that he may be dealing with a blind kid. he didn't mean to spook him, so he takes extra care to move forward quietly, not making any unnecessary noises. ]
[ Jim's silent a little longer than normal, listening for thde direction of Levi's steps. He's still an unknown and Jim wants to be aware of his location. ]
Completely blind here, yeah.
[ Maybe not the smartest thing to admit, but his mouth has a habit of running away with itself. ]
-But I'm not helpless.
[ He raises a hockey stick with shards of metal duct taped on to it in the air a few inches. Not threatening with the reedy quality of his voice, but... demonstrating. ]
[Tifa is sitting on the floor, focused on her tablet, when she hears Levi and glances up. It's hard to recognize someone's voice from one syllable, so Tifa doesn't make the connection between the man that wanders into the hospital and the man she spoke to on the network. She smiles in greeting anyway, setting down her tablet as she stands.]
Hi.
[She imagines it's a little intimidating walking into a building and running into five people you don't know, especially in a place like Norfinbury.]
[ Levi, on the other hand, has heard enough of Tifa's voice to make a connection to the girl he was speaking to over the network. or at least he hopes so, because otherwise he's about to make himself look like a dumbass.
he pauses once he's heard her speak her piece, looking her over. ]

Levi. Good to know there's a reliable source of food around here somewhere.
