[Network] @dorianpavus, Video Day 283 [Open]
[Dorian has his tablet set up on a pew to show him sitting where he's leaning against the altar in the chapel. He smiles in a friendly way and gives the tablet a little wave. His appearance shows signs of grooming and he's grown a small beard since he arrived.]
Manaveris! How is everyone? I am more alive than previously anticipated.
I'm afraid I don't know this building or the surroundings but I'm sure that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
But enough about me. How are the rest of you? Is there anyone nearby? This place is rather lonely.

I'm not sure we've spoken before.
[Dorian stands and gives her a bow hat shows training.]
Magister Dorian of House Pavus, previously of Minrathous. Who do I have the pleasure of addressing?
no subject
[The clown gives an awkward sort of curtsy in return, showing that she has only ever see people do so on TV and hadn't actually considered the logistics of the move until just now. She's also not even wearing a dress so she just kinda pulls at the sides of her jacket.]
Doctor Harleen of House Quinzel, previously of Gotham. [Did she do that right? She just wants to sound fancy too.] But everyone calls me Harley.
no subject
[Dorian is pleased to get the reference. His applause for her curtsy is sincere.]
Meeting people of learning is always a pleasure, Doctor Quinzel. Well, not quite always but it usually manages to be interesting at a minimum. Maker save me from boredom.
What did you study?
no subject
Psychiatry. But you'll hafta educate me on what a magister does. I don't think we got any of those where I'm from.
no subject
There are a few Magisters who get bored of it and run off into the countryside to conduct experiments. Every so often a few of us try to change our country for the better. Even more rarely, sometimes we have a shot at succeeding! I hate it all but I think I may be rather good at it.
What is psychiatry?
no subject
Psychiatry is a medical practice focusing on the study, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders. I specialized in working with the criminally insane. [Her voice changes as she speaks of it, her accent becoming much milder and her tone more even. But then she reverts right back.] That like was a long time ago, though.
Didja get a chance to change your country before gettin' stuck here?

[ Teasing is absolutely better than admitting how worried he's been. ]
What happened?
no subject
He sighs.
I miss traveling with you.
no subject
[ The teasing's half-hearted at best. ]
I went to trade some goods with Mickey Mouse, over in the newer area. You wanna join me?
no subject
[Dorian is just stating facts because he sees no reason not to.]
I'm less sure about traveling with vermin themed characters but willing.

[ Billy stares at the screen for a moment, unsure how to respond o the ... was that a compliment? He thinks it was a compliment. ]
Thanks? Guessing a lack of filter was the thing you lost.
no subject
It could be. But-
[He shrugs.]
I feel great. Better than I can remember in ages.

@librarian; video
More alive sounds like a good state to be in.

You're a new face, yes? Dorian of House Pavus, lately of Minrathous. And you're a librarian! Those command great respect in my homeland. If you have access to anything terribly powerful or fashionable you could make a fortune in bribes.
[Dorian doesn't sound put off by this idea.]
Here, I think the chances of that are somewhat smaller.
no subject
[He's very happy that there are some worlds out there where his profession is respected but the second part gives him pause.]
So the librarians where you come from, they have... access to terribly powerful things? [Because that sounds a lot like his Library and, being the newface that he is he hasn't given up the self-centered hope that maybe, maybe all this is connected to his world somehow.]
no subject
Naturally. Genealogies, diaries written by influential ancestors. The occasional tome on someone's old experiments. But really, the ones with political value are worth the most.
no subject
[Well, the official part at least.
But, oh. Not really what Flynn had in mind when he thought of terrible powerful things and it brings relief and disappointment at the same time.]
Yes, those are... valuable. It doesn't exactly speak for your librarians if they trade with them, though...
no subject
[Dorian flaps a hand to wave the idea off.]
Librarians control access where I'm from. Items have been known to disappear and reappear i a private collection or disappear from one private collection to appear in another but those are a very different transaction.
Sending gifts to librarians to have access to or copies from books is commonplace, an accepted practice. As is paying larger amounts to receive them more quickly.
[Dorian shrugs. It's just how things work in Tevinter.]

voice @Enoch
You'll want to leave that building before it's too late to travel, this place doesn't approve of us loitering in the places we can revive. Has anyone given you a direction to travel yet? Any direction but due west ought to lead you to a building you can shelter in.
voice @Enoch
It's good to hear from you, Enoch.
no subject
North might not- don't loiter too long in the graveyard, either.
[Why is the chapel such a tricky place to revive, really?]
Likewise, anyway. What happened to you? An anomaly? ...If you'd like to talk about it, of course.
no subject
[Dorian looks very excited by that.]
Erm, yes. I got lost and died in the snow. I'm sure it happens to a lot of people.
no subject
It does. It's certainly happened to me a few times. [Buuut...maybe he should warn him more specifically about the graveyard. He doesn't want Dorian to die again...] The graveyard is just north of the chapel but there's nowhere there to stay. If you'd like to explore it, feel free, but I would find stable shelter first.
