[log] open mouth, insert weird orange sprite tail [closed]
Characters: Davesprite and Sora
Location House 58
Date: 164, after lockdown
Summary: Davesprite gets his voice back and can finally talk to Sora! Then Sora gets to overhear Davesprite ruining everything with the Bucky fiasco.
Warnings: Nothing planned, will update if need arises.
HOUSE 58: A simple single-story building, the snow weighs uneasily on it, and it creaks and groans under the strain at the best of times. It's very dark, and only the kitchen and living room are intact. The kitchen has a back door. Two snowmen have been built outside. A message has been written on the wall in blue ink: "Don't wreck the snowmen! That's super mean!" "ALPHONSE ELRIC, MAMI TOMOE, FREYA CRESCENT, GREED, EDWARD ELRIC, STEPHANIE BROWN, DAY FORTY ONE, TRAVELLING EAST." has been carved into one of the walls. The following has been written on the wall in blue pen: "This is Building 95 97 on the composite map. Contact @CaptSteveRogers for details." Underneath this is a fairly accurate map showing the house in relation to the school and buildings 29, 35, 35, 37, 40, 41, 47, 48, 50, 53. House 34 is labeled "Medical assistance; hot, clean water. Contact Dr. Epps @claytonator". The school is labeled "School. Food available in cafeteria; DO NOT STAY HERE OVERNIGHT." The shed is labeled "Shed".

shortly after lockdown
[The house being small and dark has made digging for supplies more difficult, and it's during a lull that Davesprite peers at the back door again.]
You know I gotta wonder, all this snow around, who's got time and the finger fortitude to go buil-...ding... snowmen.
[What the fuck.]
When did my words come back? Sora did you know about this? Did some mystical rune light up on my throat and unlock the block keeping them back? Did your fingers bump over some hidden button while you were digging around through more dark house junk? How does this work? I've never died before. I should have asked people. That Zach guy probably knew, or Clint, or I bet Nat would have by now. What's the expiry date on death-losses. Is there a label I was supposed to find somewhere that I happened to miss for days just 'cause I wasn't looking in the right place? I bet it's between my wings. Best before day whatever-this-is, then he won't shut up anymore. Hey, have you found anything good?
no subject
So as he's digging through his backpack to organize things and find something to snack on for dinner, he goes still at the sound of a voice and for a second Sora wonders if it's some sort of..thing happening. Like the eyes.
But then his name is said and there's a lot of rambling and Sora looks up and stares at Davesprite in surprise as he tries to keep up with everything.]
You--no I didn't--I didn't see--
[The other's on a roll though and Sora waits until he's done, unable to help but grin a bit, a huff of laughter escaping him once he can finally get a complete sentence in.]
You didn't have any sort of label. I've never died here before so I don't really know how it works. And I found a couple of good things! I may end up leaving them in the drop box at the school though!
no subject
[He doesn't begrudge Sora the laugh at all. Instead he asks,]
What things? And what's the drop box?
no subject
I found some coffee filters, which will be good for filtering out anything that could be potentially drinkable. They'll also be a good source for a fire if I find anymore matches.
[Shifting to sit, he leans back on his hands, legs stretched out in front of himself.]
I have supply boxes set up in the aquarium and in the school. People can leave requests or items for other people and I move stuff around and find stuff people need!
no subject
Huh. Full admission time: when I first met you, you seemed like kind of a dumb guy with bad hair, but I was probably being unfair when all you had to go off was a bunch of obtuse bird squawks, stupid doodles, and gestures to go off of. That actually sounds useful.
[Pause.]
Still doesn't explain the hair, though.
[Sorry, Sora, but he's been wondering for two days and he has to ask.]
no subject
You're not the first person to think that.
[Insert slightly forced smile here.]
Not many people have had use for the supply system but as long as I'm helping some people, it's better than nothing.
[And now the smile turns to a bit of a pout.]
What about my hair?
no subject
Nah, dude, it's a good idea. The houses are pretty hit-and-miss, and then there's this other crap that can send you halfway across the map, or stuff like the static that can interrupt travel plans... It has to have helped some people.
[He's sincere about that, at least. But there is still the question of his hair, and Davesprite doesn't refrain from gesturing.]
Man, you know, how it's all...
[He holds his hands like spikes out from the sides of his head.]
Like bedhead, hair mousse, and the wind had a bad hair baby that went full anime. How does it stay up like that? Have you got a can of hairspray you've been touching it up with when I'm not looking?
no subject
[He hates not feeling useful. He hates not being able to do things to fix the world.]
...Spiky?
[There's a bit of amusement in his voice now and it grows into outright laughter as the other keeps going.]
Nope! I don't really do anything to it except comb it!
no subject
Those are some insane genetics you've got.
But hey, what about that junky thing you were carrying when the stuff with Bucky went down? That looked like... I don't know what, but you were holding it like it might be a weapon.
no subject
[Sora flashes the other a grin, reaching up to run his fingers through his own hair.]
Kairi and Riku use to tease me about it. Even when it gets wet it never really falls flat!
[JRPG protag magic.]
It was kind of a makeshift weapon. I mean I don't really have everything I need to make a proper keyblade so I just sort of worked with what I had.
no subject
[He lets the other subject take the forefront.]
Okay, that you've got to explain to me. What's a keyblade?
no subject
Keyblades are weapons that only certain individuals can use. People that were trained and chosen to fight against the darkness. They're all sort of modeled off the original x-Blade, which is the one true keyblade that can open up Kingdom Hearts. The keyblades my friends and I can wield are still powerful though! We can use magic with them and unlock worlds and lock them if they need protecting. You can also use them to unlock a person's heart.
no subject
Ahahaha, holy shit.
[And that means he has to laugh, too.]
So what does unlocking someone's heart mean? Or that Kingdom Hearts thing? You want to ask about the nonsense from my world after, that's fine too, because it's its own whole flavor of stupid, but I've got no idea what you've talking about.

later, after most of the Bucky mess
[Things rapidly went wrong, then worse when Natasha called him on it, then somehow worse yet once Clint managed to convince him of what he did wrong.]
[Now Davesprite sits curled in a weird tail-bird ball, feeling approximately like five tons of ass. Not only did he mess up, but other people might be hurt because of it, and there's jack all he can do to fix it. He doesn't even know what Sora must think.]
no subject
...Yeah that wasn't good. And from the sound of it, Davesprite wasn't doing too well either.
Tucking his tablet away Sora slowly made his way into the room where he knew the other was, keeping a hand on the wall to guide himself since it was still hard to see even after his eyes adjusted.]
Davesprite?
no subject
If you want to tell me I'm an asshole, I already know.
[He figures he heard enough.]
no subject
[He hesitates a moment before moving closer, hand slipping away from the wall as he bumps the couch then moves to sink down on the floor in front of it.]
It seemed like things got pretty heated for a bit.
no subject
Yeah. My own fault. I thought I was helping—warning people about Bucky, you know—but it's probably just going to cause more problems.
no subject
There's nothing wrong with doing something you feel is right. I mean he..is dangerous. And he knows it. It's probably better that everyone is aware of it, just in case.
[He draws his knees up and folds his arms on top of them.]
I'm worried about him as well. That's probably not something you really want to hear, though.
no subject
Nah, it's fine. I don't like him and I sure as hell don't trust him, but I don't actually, like... want anything bad to happen to him. He definitely fucked up, there's no getting around that, but now people might panic and do something stupid because I couldn't keep my mouth shut.
[As adamant as he'd first been that he'd done nothing wrong, Clint really nailed in just how bad the consequences could be.]
no subject
[Considering how dark it is, Sora let's his eyes close since he can't seen anything anyway, deflating a bit.]
All we can do is hope no one is stupid enough to go after him. And that he keeps his distance like he's been trying to. That's probably the best thing for all of us.
no subject
[They reminded him of that firmly enough, and it's at Clint's recommendation that he's saying it now.]
I wouldn't have said anything if there weren't the risk of people running into him and pissing him off, you know? Not everyone knew he was going to be there. I didn't. Charles didn't. Did you? And if not for Watson hobbling around I doubt that mess with Charles would have ended without someone injured.
no subject
[He doesn't want to hear about anymore people getting hurt, even though he knows it's going to happen. This place..it seems to just thrive on them getting hurt.]
I didn't know anyone was going to be there, honestly. I just happened to end up there and I had never really heard much about Bucky before.
[His arms tighten around his legs.]
Things could have gone way worse, that's for sure. I'm glad they didn't--really glad. But it could happen again...
no subject
[He sighs and runs his hand through his hair.]
This stuff is exhausting. Static stuff, dealing with Bucky, anomalies, arguments, trying not to die in general. I haven't even been here ten days yet and my patience is like, nah man I'm out, you're on your own. Packs up its threadbare bags all ready to go, but the little suitcase wheels are so worn down it's gotta drag 'em across the floor. Everything in the airport is staring at the jackass whose luggage is making that godawful noise, but none of them want to say anything because it's not polite. They just stare that way, you know, all passive aggressive with those little sighs. And patience knows, it's trying, but it just wants to catch its flight back to Houston.
no subject
Still. He slowly unfolds a bit and turns to glance back at Davesprite, just barely making his form out in the darkness.]
I wish I could say something like it gets easier but it..really doesn't. We just have to try and make the best of it and that includes doing what's ultimately best for everyone here. Because we're all stuck here, whether we like it or not and warnings have to be given.
