[He can't deny the swoop of relief that fills him when he sees that username and the message that goes along with it. He knew it. He knew that if anyone in this world didn't know when to stay down, it was Steve Rogers.

But straight on the heels of that relief comes worry, guilt, and fear. He doesn't remember again, different from last time but still another loss. Are they taunting him? Showing him that they can alter Steve's memories as easily as his own? Last time this happened, he made the mistake of talking to Steve properly.

And it was a mistake, no matter what Peggy had said.

It's a long time he's caught in indecision whether to just put his tablet away or to say something, but in the end he can't resist. He sticks to text to keep himself anonymous, filtering privately to stop anyone else who does know his username from chiming in.]

[Steve has been on the move for some time now. He does what he can before his body feels like freezing and then he goes inside a building to poke around. He's staying against the south snow wall. Secure knowing that Nat will get to Clint, very likely before he will, and trying very hard not to think about anything, he doesn't check his tablet for almost an hour after the last message comes in.]

He frowns from behind his tablet, but he can sort of understand why that might be a working theory, it has to be easier than accepting you're a dead amnesiac. Trust him, he knows.]

Solomons. Elric. Stephanie Brown, Natasha Romanoff. John Watson. Clint Barton. A few more I'm sure. I didn't get everyone's names. No one on the dangerous list.

Brown, Romanoff, and Watson especially. It's strange, but he half trusts Watson to keep his secrets. Not Romanoff, though, she is bound to tell him everything. And Brown is never trustworthy, she's spilled his secrets before.

[Really? Who was this? Typing keeps his fingers moving though. It keeps his mind from the cold.]

That there are parallel universes. That a version of me died and did not come back. That it's possible to come back from the dead here. And there are monsters. Anamolies. That everyone that I might know here doesn't share the same memories that I do.

[That he lost Peggy. Again. And Bucky isn't his Bucky. That he's alone.]

[Is Steve being cagey, or does he not know? It's impossible to tell, but he is going to err on the side of caution. He isn't sure he can trust any of the people Steve has been speaking to fully, not even Watson.]

[It was only text so it would have been easy to reconnect with another message but Steve didn't. He wasn't sure why when he had pressed other people harder. One of the people he had mentioned rubbed this person the wrong way. Was this person like admin though? Could he trust him? Likely not. He huddled up alone for a little while and then got back to searching.]
