[Sora knows this motel. He's been here before, back when his own adventure first started. He feels something tug at his heart at the sight and his gaze lingers on the bed, on the figures there, before he's looking over towards the window.

Even so much younger it's not hard to recognize who it is and Sora is caught between rushing over to Leon and hanging back. Because there's something so surreal about all of this. Something...something..]

I can help. You're..You're keeping an eye out for the heartless..right?

[The green room, right Sora? Still, there's little to no light and the whole place seems suffocating and scary- it's mostly a mental representation of how he felt when his world was destroyed, Traverse Town had never been so infested, but for the young man it's real.]

Heartlesses, mh? That's... certain an appropriate way to call those shadows.

[The darkness in the corners seems to crawl a bit closer for a moment, before retreating where it originall was. Leon- No, he's still Squall here, seems almost resigned to his fate but he can't accept his companion's death and it's the only reason he's still fighting, he's still awake.]

I am. And you can help me resting, now, and take care of Yuffie tomorrow. We can't always leave her with Aerith...

[He turns to look at the bed, there isn't much space considering three people are resting on it but they're refugees, it's already a good thing they're not outside in the street.]

Rest, Sora, I will sleep during the day.

[Even in the dark it's hard not to recognize this place and it makes him miss home just a little bit more than he already had.]

It's..what we end up calling them--I mean what--what we have called them here and there.

[Because this is obviously a dream or something like a dream, isn't it? Sora's been into the Dream world before and it's a similar feeling to this. But there's also something darker to this. Something sad and..so lost.

His gaze shifts over to the bed now, watching the figures sleeping there as Leon urges him to sleep. His heart aches for them, having always known they'd been through a lot but seeing it like this hurt even more.

And then his gaze his back on Leon when the other says his name, a surprised look in his eyes.]

You know who I am?

[It's home for Leon, it was home for Squall as well, Sora would be amazed to hear how much he misses that place. Or, well, his family.]

And now you're going to tell me you knew about those creatures before they swarmed in the city...

[He lets out a grim chuckle, no one knew about them and no one could stop those creatures. His gaze leans on the other people's sleeping bodies and Leon looks... lost for a moment. How is he supposed to help them if he can't even help himself? Still, he is with Sora and he ca't be seen like this, right?]

They took our kingdom's name and some memories but I don't think I'll ever be so lucky to forget the spikey headed idiot I grew up with.

[One day he'd love to hear Leon talk about it; to hear all about his home if the other would let him. There's so much about the older man that Sora doesn't know.]

Sort of.

[At least he has the decency to look sheepish, rubbing at the back of his neck.

His hand stills at the growing up together comment, confusion sweeping over Sora's face.]

We..but we...Leon, we didn't meet until later.

[Sora will have to talk about his own world first. A lot. And then Leon may talk about his past life, at least the stupid moments with Yuffie being an idiot or Aerith being happy, because that's all that really matters.]

... liar, there's no way anyone knew about those things.

[He would love to have someone to blame for this but the truth is that Leon's got nothing. The man rubs his eyes and sighs]

Leon? Are you sure you're not the one with memory problems? Look at me, I'm Squall. [Cloud, Squall, so many weather themed names...] Shit, they're still messing up with your memories, aren't they?

There's--they've been around for a long time. Before all of this.

[It was such a long and complicated story that even Sora didn't understand it all. What he knew was pieced together from things he'd been told and Ventus's memories.]

With my memories? [You're one to talk, Leon. The younger man shakes his head, moving closer to the other to sit beside him.] I think they're okay. I think...

[No, hold on.]

....It's going to be okay, right?

They weren't normal monsters, Sora, they were... I don't know.

[Did you know? Without a keyblade you can't hurt them so much- and his memories may be distorted in the dream but he knows that when Radian Garden fell it had been worse than other days with allies falling and only increasing their number.]

Are you sure? You don't really sound like yourself. [Says the one who even awake can't remember how Hollow Bastion was freed and forgot about you for a long while.]

No, it's not. [He closes his eyes] But we're going to protect them until the end, aren't we?

...Driven by a need? Wouldn't stop for anything? ..And your weapons didn't hurt them, did they?

[Sora doesn't hesitate to scoot just a little bit closer to Leon, leaning up against his side as he looks over towards the bed again.

He's never held the memory loss against you, Leon. Don't worry. He understands. And even now he knows this is just a dream.]

I'm okay..just worried about you guys. [Always.] Yeah. We won't let anything happen to them. I'll fight until I can't fight anymore.

Yes. I've never seen anything like that.

[He isn't leaning back but at the same time the man isn't pushing him away. It's... comforting.

Sora has always been too nice for his own good, you know? But that time it really wasn't their fault- even if Leon was the one going all "we will never forget each other" in the first place]

I'm worried too. [It's hard to admit that but Sora has been with him since they were kids, right? And now that Cloud left too they're... alone. With people to protect since Cid can't take care of everything, he's not even related to them!] Good, because I'm going to do the same.

[And he really wishes you didn't have to see it, Leon. That no one ever did. That none of this had ever started and that the original Keyblade War had never happened--

But it had and there was no changing it now. This was just adding a lot of perspective to what Sora already knew about his friends. About what they had been through and his heart ached so terribly for them.]

It's going to be okay, Leon. I promise. [It wasn't going to be easy but..Sora wasn't going to get into all of that. Not when this was a dream.

Instead he just offers the other a reassuring smile.] I promise. You can believe in me just like I believe in you!
