[network | video] @prettypinkflowers; those who sew together stay together; Evening 59 [open]
Hello everyone! I'm Ginger, for those of us who haven't gotten acquainted.
[She smiles for the camera, and gives a nice cheerful wave. The past two nights had been rough and sleepless, and the morning hadn't been much better, but Clayton's back and Rydia's...not dead! So everything's okie dokie and there will be no frowns on her live feed! No way, no sir, no how!]
I wanted to ask to see who all here has experience sewing, or is interested in learning how to sew? That, and who has materials that could be helpful for sewing, or if you know if there are any houses that are good for finding them? I was thinking, like, if we could coordinate and combine our efforts, we could make some reasonable winter clothes for everyone to keep warm and be more protected from the snow. [She's heard something about how someone had to get an amputation from frostbite! That's scary!] And that way anybody who shows up here from now on not dressed appropriately won't have to go for too long that way because they can have some happy friendly clothes waiting! People have been doing that with food and other supplies, right? So, like, we can do the same thing with these. Like a totally nice care package for some new neighbors!
[The most important thing here, of course, is that if they work together, they can make things cute. Instead of people having to wear some of the tragically improvisational clothing that she's been seeing.]
Anyhoo, let me know if you'd like to help in any way. Or if you just have something that needs mending or altering, I'd be happy to fix it right up for you if you're somewhere nearby!
[Please. She needs projects. She needs them to occupy her idle mind so she doesn't get too restless waiting around all the time. This is the only thing she can be trusted to do correctly.]

That would be a good idea. I have seen no fabric or other useful things but having extra pants carried around by current residents would be a good idea.
I will let you know if I find useful materials.

[She gives him a thumbs up.]
I hope we all find some soon!

There's a house a little southeast of the store that was pretty much nothing but sewing supplies. I took a kit from there, but there were some other things.
[ He pauses, deciding if he wants to offer his help on a project that sounds like it might be a lot of work while he's got his mind on other things. He had taken the kit, maybe from someone who could've put it to better use, so he adds: ]
I don't know how to make anything from scratch, but I can mend things and let them out.
[ It's a little weird to think this isn't a skill everyone has. ]

[She doesn't know where the store is, and considering she started in the ice tunnels it's probably pretty far away, but maybe she could convince someone to travel there with her! The important thing is that the supplies are available. It's one step in the right direction!]
That's still great! Every little bit helps. Thank you, like, so so much for letting me know! Oh, and it's super nice to meet you, Jim!
[He looks and sounds like a cutie! A tough cutie, but a cutie.]
@TW; text
I can mend stuff ok but nothing else, so
if somebody else wants it I'll leave it somewhere for them to pick up. the shed by the school next time I'm there maybe idk
@hjack69; voice
[Yes, he patches up his old clothes even when he's the richest man in the galaxy. He's weird like that.]
Don't have any sewing stuff on me right now, but I can let you know if I find anything.
[Being so nice and helpful rankles, but he needs all the approval points he can get.]
video
[This is so wonderful, she's so excited! Such nice, helpful responses!]
It sounds like a lot of people are finding little sewing kits. So like, when we find usable fabrics we'll be super prepared!
[The supplies are great, of course, but there's not much to be done with them without fabric to, well, sew.]

~like totally super~
try ripping the upholstery off couches and stuff maybe
it won't be enough to make like
pants
unless you stitch it all together I guess
but you could probs make gloves or something out of it idk

[She says, completely glancing over the mocking sarcasm in his text. Maybe he was just being cute! She likes to dress up her texts, too, but usually with...smiles!]
That would be much warmer than the bedsheet I found. I was thinking that, like, if I find some more of those little decorative pillows I can use the stuffing inside to make things warmer, too!
[And all comfy cushy!]
no subject
shouldn't you save the bedsheet to use as
a sheet
since that can get wrapped around more than one person at once so it's more useful than turning it into like a pair of skirts or w/e
seems like a waste to cut something like that up
no subject
[It just goes to show that sometimes the best solutions are the ones that you can read on the tin!]
But I like really needed a pair of pants since I came here in a summer dress. And like you said, tearing apart other things probably wouldn't give enough material for that.
[She laughs.]
I wouldn't make a pair of skirts! It's way too cold for that. Anyway, I'm sure there are more bedsheets lying around in the other houses!
video
[She'll put him on her list. People who can thread a needle! It's a very important list.]
And that would be really, really great. Thank you for being so super duper helpful!
no subject
figured you still had it
w/e if you needed pants you needed pants
and tbf it's not like I know how warm skirts are
they're like so totally not my style
[ Tim pls. ]
no subject
[Her eyes light up.]
I think anyone can rock a skirt if they want to! I mean they do it all the time in Scotland, right?
[And also Vegas.]
no subject
so
yeah you're gonna have your work cut out for you if you want to convince any guy around here to put on a skirt jsyk
[ Heh, work cut out
Like
Like cutting out clothes from fabric
And
Yeah ]
no subject
[She accepts this challenge. Her passion for fashion is too strong to do otherwise.]
After I make mittens and things for everybody, of course.
[Priorities.]
Audio | @Griever
I will keep my eyes open and collect the clothes I can find in the meanwhile.
Audio | @Rdua
Also, sorry for escaping and messing up.

Nice to meet you, too. You some kind of seamstress back home?
no subject
[She's sure more will turn up. She feels a bit bad now for not hoarding all those dolls clothes. That isn't much fabric to work with, but...she could've turned them into something useful, surely.]
Thank you so much! That's, like, super helpful of you!
no subject
[Thinking about all the bolts of fabric piled up back home...she has to let out a wistful sigh.]
I'm hoping I can go to school for it when I get back.
[A pause. Oh, dear, she's talking too much about herself! Rambling on like a rude old ninny!]
What about you? What kind of things are you interested in back home?
[He looks too young to have a career, after all, but some people are early bloomers and know what they want to be so early! One can never know.]
no subject
[But there's always a bright side!]
Maybe you'll discover a new one and surprise yourself!
[Maybe he, too, will discover his hidden passion for fashion.]
no subject
Oh, no! No, please don't apologize! I'm just, like, so glad you're okay! That's all that matters now, really.
[She has to stop herself from going on about how worried she was. Rydia's probably already heard enough of that by now. From a whole lot of people.]
But thank you. I'd hate to take a blanket, since those would probably be better for sleeping...but I'll keep the plushie in mind in case I'm making something that could use the padding! You're so sweet!
