Yes and no. This was several years ago, the Rift hadn't opened yet. Alexius was researching the theoretical aspects of interaction between weak places in the Fade and natural processes. His wife and her students handled the practical side of the research.

Some of that research was useful when the Rift opened. That was how Ellana and I began working together.
