[She feels like she's been asleep for a very long time. A dreamless, empty sleep, leaving her feeling cold and dark.

Cold and dark...

She's inside of something. A bag? It's so cold. Why is she in a bag? She struggles to recall her last memory, but all that tells her of is more cold, a consuming cold, deep within her circuits.

She moves robotically, unzipping the body bag and stumbling, stilted, out of the drawer. As she looks around, she remembers: she's in a town called Norfinbury. And she...

She retrieves her pack from the drawer and rummages around inside, until she finds the tiny jar containing some murky water and a soft marimo.

Her message to the network is not panicked, but there is a pleading undertone to her otherwise level voice.] Hello. My name is Aigis. I seem to be inside of one of the morgues.

Please, what day is it?

[Oh. Oh shit. Nathan slams his video on so fast, his face lit up like a kid that just got a puppy for Christmas.]

I thought I'd never see you again!

[He'll probably remember to answer the question soon he's just too full of joy and thanks.]

[The sound of Aigis gasping can be heard over her audio feed, and she turns on her video too. She's smiling, but her eyes-- well, they aren't tearing up yet, but they're close.] Nathan-san! You...

[She pauses. Her smile fades, the corners of her mouth turning down in pain.] I thought the same thing. [When he didn't come back after getting stuck outside, despite his claims of being immortal.]

[The look on his face falters in a flash of regret. He quickly covers his mouth with his hand as he tries to play it off. But...it feels wrong to put on the same kind of act for her.]

I should've been more careful, I'm sorry. I was out for a long damn time, and when I found out you were gone, too...

[It was awful. So much was different immediately. All the cockiness and unaffected pretense ripped open and replaced with empty space. Despair.]

It's Day 389, love.

[She's quiet for a moment. Her expression shifts again, blank in an unsettling way.] Day... 389?

[She's having trouble absorbing it. She felt like she'd been out for a while, but this... She bows her head, her gaze falling away from her tablet screen.] It was day 172 when I...

I'm guessin' this is a "Welcome back" situation. [Since her question has already been answered anyway.] Welcome back. My name's Harley. Any idea what morgue you're in yet?

It seems it is. [There's a sad hint to her tone, but to be honest, Aigis doesn't know how to feel about this. She's never died before. She's never died and been revived before. She's never been gone to the world for nearly two thirds of a year. It's a lot to take in.

Still, she's as polite as ever.] It's nice to meet you, Harley-san.

After further investigation, I've determined that I'm in the police station. I will have to move to the firehouse next door before nightfall.

Pleasedta meetcha too! [Harley can always muster some cheer, despite the situation.] Sounds like you know what you're doin'. I'd say you're gonna be fine. Or about as fine as anybody ever is around here.

[Aigis is pretty confident about a lot of dangerous situations, but in most dangerous situations she's able to go without eating and shoot bullets from her hands. She can't do either of those things here.]

I'm not sure. I...must have succumbed to the cold last time. [The memories are foggy; all she can remember of that last night is cold, so she can only assume.] And it's been so long... I am certain that a lot has changed.

[He remembers her from before, but it's been such a long time that it takes until she says her name for him to connect who it is.]

Wow, it's-- it's been a really long time, maybe you should find somewhere to sit down for this.

It happens to the best of us.

[She pauses for a moment in thought.] Welllll, most folks're now at or headed towards this bunker. It's s'posedta be one step closer to gettin' out, so there's that.

[It's not Jay's first time waking up in a morgue here in Norfinbury, but somehow today feels different. He's not quite sure why, but he's reminded of that time waking up in a hotel near Rosswood, seven months gone from his memory. Could something like that have happened again?

Opening the network doesn't help the feeling - he can't even locate the last post he remembers seeing.]

Just how long was I out this time?

[Sitting back to wait for a response, he can't help wondering if he actually wants to know the answer.]

[ HOOOOOOOLY SHIT.

While Jay's return might be surprising, Tim's reaction to it isn't. Meaning he sinks down onto the floor and starts blubbing like a big stupid baby with an alarming aptitude for growing facial hair.

Seriously, just. Imagine a baby with sideburns and/or a griefbeard like Tim's. Imagine it.

So the reply isn't instant. Or via video, even though Tim's pretty sure a friendly face would be helpful to Jay right now. Man, what's he even supposed to say? How is he supposed to convey his relief and gratefulness that he gets to see his stupid dumb dead BFF again? ]

[Of course, Jay can't even begin to guess at what his friend is feeling right now. Seeing someone come back from the dead might be nice, but also super fucking weird. Add to that the however many days it's probably been, and man oh man. It's hard to imagine what that would be like.

And of course Tim isn't giving any hints as to his emotions because he's Tim. Dang it, Tim.]
