[log] get down mr. president [closed]
Characters: America, England, Ginger, and Roland
Location: the post office
Date: day 371
Summary: meeting the president
Warnings: shouldn't be any
[A post office, long-abandoned. There are a few empty white plastic bins where mail was once piled up, and the lobby area is still remarkably clean and polished. The back area isn't locked, so if you like you can go through the back and see the office with its locked safe and the back door that leads to the downtown area. Trees, impossibly tall men, and lots of Ⓧs have been drawn on the walls, along with ball-like things that are made up of tentacles and beaks and death and one circle in green crayon that's been scribbled over in charcoal. "ALPHONSE ELRIC, DAY ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY SEVEN, TRAVELLING NORTH. IF ANY ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED CONTACT @LELRIC ANY TIME" is carved on the wall. "ALPHONSE ELRIC, DAY ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX, CONTACT @LELRIC FOR ANY ASSISTANCE" is written on the wall.

[The second they see Roland, Ginger is all but bursting out of her skin to go introduce herself. Company makes her very excited!]
Hello, hello, hello! It's, like, so nice to meet you!
[She reaches out to shake his hand, but if he returns the gesture she'll take his hand in both of hers, sandwiching it enthusiastically.]
My name's Ginger--I'm, like, totally sorry I didn't introduce myself on the Network. I've been, like, kind of scattered?

[Later, when she's gotten the excitement out of her system, she can be found with her trusty sketchpad--but instead of drawing, it looks like she's going over some notes. She seems puzzled, pouting to herself as she looks back and forth between different lists for herself.]
A
Roland is surprised, and a little flattered, to find such enthusiasm in his new travelling companion. He wonders what America told them, and what they might be expecting; a picture-perfect president? Or another survivor and potential friend? He splits the difference, receiving her friendly handshake with a warm smile and a straight back.]
A pleasure to meet you too, Ginger. That's alright; I probably seemed like I wasn't in the mood for friendly conversation.
I'm Roland Crane. Thanks for letting me come along.

[She only smiles wider as she finally relinquishes his hand and claps both of hers in front of her.]
You don't have to thank us at all! It's good to stick together around here and, like, help each other. Oh, and speaking of--is there anything in particular you could use right away for the cold? I'll sew you up whatever I can in a jiffy!
no subject
Oh, are you a tailor? Actually, there is one thing...
[He thought his tailor was the second most useful person in his employ - a tailor could make a person into whomever they wanted with enough resources. But even just knowing how to sew in a place like this was power.
He unwraps a scarf from around his neck; the bright pattern doesn't match well with his dark blue soldier's uniform, but it's something.]
This is all I have to cover my face. Do you think it's enough fabric to fashion a hood out of?
no subject
[She's a professional! At his request, she looks over the scarf, thoughtful.]
Yes, I think so. My stitchwork, like, is a bit lacking here, but...we all work with what we have, right?
no subject
[He smiles gratefully at her help.]
Thanks, Ginger. I imagine your skills are high in demand, here. Is there some way I can repay you for your hard work?
[He had basically nothing on his person, but he's interested to hear how bartering works, here.]
no subject
[She laughs, waving a hand.]
No, I like, don't feel right getting paid for this because I just want to make sure everyone is keeping warm, you know? If you ever find any supplies to donate when you're out and about, though, I always appreciate it!
no subject
I'll keep an eye out, then. It's the least I can do, aside from admiring your handiwork.
[Well, that's settled. There's one thing he's curious about, so he decides to veer the conversation elsewhere:]
So, how did you start travelling with America and England?
[Perhaps it's more invasive a question than he'd usually ask, but if he wanted to get to know his travelling companions, he may as well start with what would be obvious questions.]
no subject
[But she clearly isn't bothered by it, and jumps right into the story.]
Well, a long time ago...not a full year ago but I wanna say, like, golly, probably around three hundred or so days ago now, I'd been traveling with a few different people but didn't have any kind of core group I was really with for too long at a time, but everyone woke up in completely different places from where they were before? England was closest to me...so he met up with me to help me because I'm super direction-ally challenged. And once we met up with America we've, like, been three snug little peas in a pod ever since!
