999 true end spoilers. talking about Zero here. whoops

[... That's a lot of questions. And confusing ones, too.]

Artifact..?

No, I'm.. not sure. I don't think it's anything you can see, or touch. It's like.. suddenly knowing something you didn't before. Or holding a normal conversation when nobody's there, even when the time should make it impossible.

I don't think anything gets lost. But then, I guess I wouldn't know, would I?

... Remember those experiments I told you about? They were testing whether they could make children access the Morphogenetic Field by putting them in danger. Forcing them to contact each other in order to survive. ... One of them didn't make it. Or, well, apparently.

[He reaches up for a moment to rub his neck. This isn't really something he wants to reveal, but with Flynn, it should be okay, right..? Maybe if he just avoids her name...]

She died ten years ago, but she was able to recreate everything that happened in that so-called game and drag me into a second version of it to save her. She was still alive and with me, when.. this happened.

So did I overwrite something by talking to her? I.. still don't know. Nobody remembers her dying, but it all seemed a little too elaborate for a lie.

...

[He shakes his head. Enough about that person.]

If you have no body, you can't go there. That's all. It's not like the time travel you see in movies and all that. I couldn't go, say, 30 years in the past, or something.

When it's your whole consciousness being sent, it's more like a trade. Kind of one-sided, though. It's a pretty bad deal for whatever version of yourself's getting thrown into the timeline you just left.
