[ Will shook his head and again he felt a pinch of grumpiness at getting called out on his stories, but he really had been dragging this out all this time. Also even this one story was but a drop in the bucket of the entire storybook.

Besides, this was one instance where they couldn't pin enabling behavior on Will and truthfully, Will was still bitter about the situation. ]

I had told Jack, Alana ... everybody who sat across from me in the interrogation room, everybody who stood across from me in the cell. I gave them the Ripper's identity, again and again but they wouldn't believe me. They said I sounded paranoid, unstable, psychotic.

[ Will gave a sad little laugh and shrugged, giving up on his hair and dropping his hand to fiddle with a bit of the bed frame. ]

Not saying I'm not the last two, but in this instance I was right and I begged them to listen and they shut me away.

The one person who began to believe me, got any traction on gathering proof, the Ripper killed her. Froze her body and sliced her in vertical halves, which he then put on display.

When the Ripper organized circumstances to get me released, I could see it. I told Chilton his life was in danger, I told Chilton he had to go to Jack and confess everything. What he'd done to Gideon, what he'd done to me, what he'd confessed to the Ripper about his psychiatric practices.

Chilton didn't listen, he valued his career too much.

[ Will looked up briefly, the bags under his eyes even more pronounced than usual. ]

After the Ripper set him up, Chilton actually came running to me. He was soaked in blood, not his own, panicked. He finally saw it. I called Jack and when Jack showed up, again I tried to tell him that this wasn't what it looked like. That Chilton was being framed.

Jack called me a fool and arrested him regardless.

[ Will paused and shrugged. ]
