[The camera seems to be pulled back somewhat so that the viewer can see more of the scene. Aymeric is holding a fluffy white cat up. He is grinning ear to pointy ear about this development.]

Good evening, fellows! I would like all of you to meet my dear cat. [the cat barely tolerates being held up like this. It slips out of his hands and onto his shoulder to glower at Estinien and his sheep.] His name is Lord Byron. I do not recommend trying to pet him, however. He doesn't much care for strangers. I suppose this is a bit of public service announcement as well...

[He holds up his hands. They have clear cat scratches all over them. Even though Aymeric isn't a stranger to his own pet cat.]

[It hisses at Estinien and his karakul]

I wonder how he got here.

Nevermind that he feels nothing of the sort about new two-leggers.

His words are understandable to humans and animals alike. ]

[ Most haven't seen him before, but those who have may notice a gold chain wrapped around his neck (three times before it fit comfortably) and a pendant that looks like an actively burning ember encased in clear resin. ]

Oh, how cute. Another cat... [He just automatically assumes there's someone else there acting as ventriloquist.]

It is quite rude to speak to someone and refer to them in the third person.

[He clasps his hands together, trying to judge if this is a joke. He doesn't see anyone else there. It's probably more polite to play along and look like he fell for a joke. It's clearly a very well crafted one. ]

Mine apologies, then! What is your name, sir?

My true name is not one mortals can comprehend. You may call me whatever you wish.

[He clasps his hands together. That's an unusual answer.] My name is Aymeric de Borel. [He's lost touch with providing his title. It didn't really mean anything here.]

[His eyes narrow]

You aren't truly a cat... are you?

[If there's anything that can make him feel better about what they've all just experienced, it's the appearance of a cat. He is immediately fumbling his tablet on to reply.]

Wow, he's so beautiful! Hello, Lord Byron, that's a fancy name, you must be a pretty stately cat...

[He's totally forgotten to say hello to Aymeric in his excitement.]

[ The Cat nods acknowledgement of the introduction. ]

A pleasure, I'm sure.

I am as truly a cat as it is possible to be.

[He's not even remotely offended. He, too, is excited about his cat.]

He is a very stately cat! He has lived his entire life within Borel manor and fed the fattest livers...

[He finagles his cat off his shoulder to hold him again as it squirms grumpily.]

I must apologize that he isn't friendlier...

[he sits back and lifts Lord Byron off his shoulder. What now. Does he question the nature of this creature's existence? Ask how it can talk? All of that seems terribly rude. Maybe something more practical.]

Do you know where to find cat food, then?

And- how are you using that tablet?

Can you speak directly to Lord Byron?

No, in the usual way, and yes.

[ Go on, ask if he can give a helpful answer. ]

You haven't any thumbs.

[Lord Byron meows to the effect of "look, there's a sheep behind me. let's kill it for the meat"]

What have you been eating, then?

The same rations as the rest of you, I expect.

I believe Lord Byron may be hallucinating.

I received an Ishgardian collar, myself. I'd have preferred a chocobo but I can hardly frown on aught that so reminds me of home.

That's okay, I bet I wouldn't feel so friendly if I was a cat and suddenly surrounded by so much snow.

[That has to be the only reason for the grumpiness, right? Otherwise he'd be a big old ball of fluff and friendliness.]

Well that's a shame... he'd be much cuter if you could pet him without being mauled.

But then again most anything is cuter when it's not actively trying to tear your arm off. Just try not to lose him in the snow.

It may be a small blessing that you did not receive a chocobo. I encountered a fellow some time back who struggled to feed his bird without available greenery. I'm not sure what became of him or his bird.

[the cat continues to squirm and yowl as it climbs out of Aymeric's hands. He seems to have no real reaction to the new blood drawn. He turns his hands over, seemingly unaware of his cat readying itself to launch into Estinien with a butt wiggle]

Precisely what sort of collar?

Ah, you're right. I hadn't considered how easily I could lose him. A leash, perhaps...? Preposterous...

[he unthinkingly just licks a bit of blood off his hand] It is what it is. I can hardly blame him; who among us placidly accepts any fellow to simply come up and handle him?

Well... My home is very similar in climate. It's hardly anything new, though he's suddenly without his luxuries and a reliably warm hearth. I'll need a way to carry him during travel. Do you think they make coats for cats? Perhaps someone has an infant's swaddling blanket...

[Aymeric had the fine luck of tripping from one snowhell into another. He was sort of used to the chill, as if anyone could be used to weather this cold]

Strangely enough, I did. I heard a rustling in my things and had drawn my knife expecting some hideous abomination! Imagine my surprise with he revealed himself to be my dear cat!

Hallucinating? Has he told you something?

[he holds the irate and wriggling cat again to look him in the face as if he might open his little mouth and speak too.]

He seems to think there is a sheep in the room.

Oh, but there is.

[He moves the camera over to the eternally ornery looking Estinien with a sheep in his lap]

It's nearly a farm in here, isn't it?

[ The Cat's nose twitches as he tries to get a better look at that sheep. ]

He wants to eat it.

[A soft chuckle, then he reminds himself that this is a superior officer. It's a hard bit of mental programming to get past.]

An Ishgardian Historian's Choker, though how they came by such an object I know not.

Cat is distracting. He sucks a deep breath before responding. When half your face is wrapped in bandages, it's hard to see how puffy/splotchy it is, but that doesn't mean he's up for video quite yet. ]
