[Haurchefant is holding the tablet in one hand, his features are serious.]

I wish to speak of the ill fate that befell us over a week ago and the air of discomfort that followed thereafter.

The workings of this place set us to hunt one another. It turned brother against brother. That was dark magicks at work, not our will.

[He shakes his head.]

Since then some among us have retained the eyes. Now is not the time to take a knife to one another, rather we must rally together. We must find a way to end this mummery, not perpetuate it through violence.

I know not who the Prophet was and I care not. What I care about is our safety. If we let this place drive a wedge between us we will lose this game, whatever it may be.

Nay, none that I know of. But 'tis better to speak out before any such tragedy were to occur than hold my tongue until there is bloodshed, yes?

And if we never come to harm ourselves and my plea is for naught then I shall be full glad for it.

Mm. It's catastrophizing a bit, mate; that's all.

Mayhap, but if there is one thing this place breeds 'tis catastrophe.

Pray do not hear me wrong. I continue to believe that we will hold together, I only caution that such effort may need conscious attention at times.

I'm curious about the specifics of it. Did you notice that many of us died, but not one of us was on any obituary for it?

We're good. [ A pause. ] At least I think we're good. Will know for sure when we meet back up again.

Does anyone still have different eyes from that event?

The night is almost like a nightmare, is it not? It seems at times as if naught that occurred then ever truly happened.

[He has to take a second to decipher the meaning of that. Oldtimey speak is weird.]

It's a possibility, innit? We've had hallucinations before.

I find myself wondering if I'd prefer it to be a hallucination or a reality...

If it were real then many people truly suffered, but if it was only our imaginings then that speaks to the power this place holds over our minds.

What else may not be truly here? Was my death in the caverns beneath us a dream as well?

I asked the Admin about it. Transcript is attached. Still waiting on a reply to more of my questions. Might take a bit or she's not feeling inclined to respond.

Watson: 'Eve, can you tell me what happened last night? What it looked like on your end. From ours, people were going insane and trying to murder each other after time seemed to freeze.

Are you and Mr. Miller all right? Did this affect you?'

@ADMIN: 'Data from the previous night has been lost. The previous night was spent attempting to fix errors. The errors have been fixed, and there is no lasting damage.'

Watson: 'You reset everything. But there are still some people with glowing eyes or eyes and look like the Prophet symbol. Do you know what that means? Has this happened before?']

Errors? A curious term to describe such a bout of madness.

It sounds like something you'd describe for a computer. She may be referring to the servers or the nanomachines in our bodies.

All terms that I fear remain somewhat lost on me.

I understand what machines are, and that a computer is one, but beyond this? Little and less.

This place holds a frightening amount of power over us whether it was real or not.

I believe I have heard some mention of such, though if it is so the number of people with changed eyes remains somewhat small. None of my companions have unusual eyes.

Okay, so, the nanomachines in us are just very, very small machines. Barely specks under a magnifying glass. They're a type of machine that you can program to do something. It's like giving soldiers a command, but having it go directly into their heads and having them obey immediately if they're given a certain set of factors. If you have an enemy in a forest who's hiding out, and you've pre-programmed your soldiers like you would a computer, then they'll attack that enemy however you've told them to, immediately, without needing to be told.

That's sort of how the machines in us work? You can give them active commands, too, but the day-to-day maintaining our bodies and working against the radiation is probably just pre-programmed. Whatever happened the other night either disrupted pre-programmed functions, or tried to... I dunno. Stick more commands into us through our nanomachines.

That's good! I mean, those eyes were pretty freaky to think about. Maaaan, I really hope whatever that was- be it memories or something else, it doesn't happen again.

Kind of agreeing that I haven't seen much in the way of people antagonizing each other. That being said, I feel the bigger risk is people isolating themselves because they perceive themselves to be a threat to others.

[Those idiot noble self-sacrificing types, essentially.]

i talked to people about this plenty before and none of the people who got the murder eyes were still wanting it after the fact
havent heard about any other trouble going on from it either
im trying to be careful anyway because some of us still have the weird ones like you said
if anything the danger is probably another round of the city instigating some ugly new flavor of awful on us because of them

It could be that I am worrying over naught, and I do pray that proves to be the case. 'Tis the fact that some eyes yet linger that worries me so.
