[network] @caitsith; Anyone got a spare boot? [open] [Video] Night 156
[The video turns on, but before anyone can make sense of what is being shown, there's a horrifically loud YOWLING as well as panicked warking of a chocobo. Lehko is fumbling with the tablet as he's keeping his back to the door behind him. There's banging on it, aggressive and unceasing, and when it does stop for a moment, the windows are then under fire. But he eventually fixes the view so that it shows him, a forced, if not concerned looking, smile on his features.
The yowling never seems to stop.]
I would like to say my sincerest thanks for those whom put forth the effort to educate the new comerrrs on these anomalies.
[He says this all very quickly, his voice sounding far more upbeat and friendly than the situation should warrant.]
Howeverrr, are they usually this perrrsistent? Bells have gone by, and this one in parrrticular knows little when to give up. Poor Tempest knows not to do with himself with all the racket.
[He pans the camera over to his chocobo, who looks about ready to kick some anomaly ass. Feathers are fanned out, his wings spread, and he's standing nearly completely vertical to make himself as tall and big looking as possible. At the moment, he's staring the anomaly down that's out the window thrashing at the glass, but seemingly unable to break through.]
I—[he brings the view back to himself]—I suppose any advice as to what I should do would be most apprrreciated...
[He sounds tired. Because he is. This has been going on since before lockdown, and he's not exactly sure what to do to make the thing go away.]

@dreadnought; Video
[ Merlwyb is seemingly unconcerned - whether or not that's to reassure Lehko or because he's not a familiar Miqo'te is difficult to tell. She's hard to get a read on with that expert poker face. ]
Be calm. Panic has driven many a man from well-fortified positions to his death naught but yalms outside the gates.

How strange.]
Tempest will be fine, I have told him to stand down, and thus he has not moved to attack. He is merely prrrepared should he have to.
[Another ear piercing yowl before the door behind him starts to shake from the attacks of the anomaly. Lehko's ears lower and he winces visibly.]
Little am I panicking, so much that I am frrrustrated. And tired. I had prrrayed the beast would lose interest a bell or so in to its assault, once it realized that its endeavor prrroved futile, but it would seem 'tis as mindless as 'tis relentless.

Regardless, you've naught to do but endure. Rest, if you can, and prepare to chart a course to a safer port; preferably one with warmth and escape routes in abundance.

jesus brick shitting christ i didnt know they were that bad
probably a good thing the doors are locked but i did not expect the windows to be that sturdy
just keep an eye on your bird okay dont let him near the windows
do you have anything to cover his eyes
i dont know how much it will help with that godawful noise going on but if he cant see it trying to claw through the glass it might take the edge off
no subject
[He does move away from the door at least. It's locked, and seems sturdy, so he'll let it be, motioning for Tempest to follow. Of course there's a slight hesitance from the bird, but it does follow a moment after. Keeping an eye on the rattling window as it does.]
If I may take us away from the topic at hand—seeing as there is not much I can do at present—I'd like to introduce myself: I am Lehko Habhoka, and who would you be my lovely?
[Yes, he is gonna flirt even in a situation like this...]
video;
[He steps away from the door and opens his bag, looking through its contents with one hand.]
I am surrrprised as well—at the window's hardiness. Little did I expect glass to hold so strongly against such assault. But worry not, I gave Tempest an order to stand down, and he is not one to disobey.
[Even if he looks like he's about ready to dive through the window and kick the shit out of that anomaly.]

Please stay safe
You should be fine, they usually leave by morning. Just
try to get some sleep, friend
[ She'd usually use video or at least voice in this situation to counter the racket from the anomaly, but. Nnnnnot when Beckett just got snatched by one. N o p e. ]

unless you're slafyrsyn obvs]Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn. Well met.
no subject
i dont mind the video normally but that sound is fucking ungodly
if i sleep tonight id like to not have my dreams haunted by some yowling death beast
if you have nothing for his eyes then are there any more interior rooms in that place that you could move him to
@Griever | Audio
For now? Try to eat and sleep to regain energies, you're safe for now.
@determination, video
Anomalies like to stay the whole night. They don't really leave 'ntil it's almost time to go in the morning. Is there anywhere further in the house you can go? The best you can do for tonight is try to go somewhere you can ignore it.
[They've had a couple of anomalies that have been pretty upsetting and... yeah they've usually stuck around the whole night, either way.]
@joacin; text
[because that is, clearly, the most important thing that's going on here.]
text;
Is there a known reason for their growth in aggression?
I suppose you're right, however. If the creature could break in, it likely would have bells ago. Sleep doesn't seem to plausible, unfortunately.

I thank you. I felt the name fit his personality quite well. Do you have your own chocobo?
no subject
The pleasure is all mine. In an effort to bring this conversation away from my irresolute situation, may I ask from whence you hail?
[He asks as he removes himself from the door, grabbing at the reins of Tempest's bridle, leading the bird further away from the racket as well.]
video>text;
My apologies. The sound has rattled my senses, and I should have switched once my original broadcasting was finished.
Unfortunately, there isn't much to this abode. Most of it has collapsed in on itself, and the part I have access to that isn't exposed to the outdoors is a single room.
However, I will try to keep him as far from the door as possible, but I fear it will be a dubious help.
no subject
damn
thats the problem with these places
you never know what youre going to find in them until youre in them
and with the curfew theres hardly a chance to go well this place is shit and haul ass to the next
even setting aside the freaky murder anomaly standing outside the doorway
wish i knew more how to help but i hear you cant even fight them
no subject
If it's even a real phenomenon. It might just be a matter of more people I *know* getting attacked by them lately?
Iunno
Is your bird going to be okay? He seems kinda stressed, but admittedly I don't know much about animals.
no subject
Nowadays, however, she has gotten on in years, and her feathers have a touch of grey to them...
But I feel as though it has been a great many moons since last I saw her.
I am surprised
that somehow you managed to bring a chocobo with you to Norfinbury
no subject
It was not a conscious effort that he was brought here with me, I am blessed either way. I feel I would find myself acclimating far more poorly had I arrived alone.
no subject
However do you intend to feed him?
no subject
no subject
francel wonders.]
Are you hungry?
no subject
[When you run into an anomaly, you run into the nearest place you can barricade it out with. You don't really care much where.]
But, um, it's still gonna be there until morning either way. We still haven't found a way to really... make 'em go away.
no subject
Limsa Lominsa, La Noscea. Have you heard naught about it?
[ Damn, Meow Mix, what rock have you been hiding under? ]
no subject
Unless you have something to offer?
[He's avoided the feeding question because he's honestly not sure. Others have offered to keep an eye out for anything remotely edible for a chocobo, but for now he's going to have to feed him whatever he can that might not leave the poor bird ill.]
no subject
I suppose I should be grateful that this shelter seems adequate enough to keep the beast out, but this racket will not do if I wish to sleep at all tonight.
no subject
Tempest will be alright, he is a chocobo trained for the battlefield. He is more upset he cannot attack the thing, than worried about being attacked. Have you never had a pet before?
no subject
no subject
I have not. Neither Limsa Lominsa, nor La Noscea. I assume likewise you have not heard of Windurst, nor Gha Naboh?
no subject
'Tis not somewhere I've heard of, no. But you are Miqo'te, are you not?
no subject
no subject
[ Unlike Beckett but HAHA NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR "BTW ONE OF THESE THINGS JUST KILLED BY BADASS FRIEND NBD" ]
And no, I never had a pet. I wanted a puppy, but I didn't ever have enough room for one. :C But wait, THAT'S a chocobo?? I've heard people here talking about those! ♥ I didn't realise they were *that* big. Does he like being petted? Asking for a friend. >w>
@lockhart; video
[There's a slight pause.]
You have a chocobo with you?
text;
I do indeed have a chocobo, would seem I am the only one that does.
no subject
[That sure was a compliment out of nowhere! So, uh. Back to the chocobo.]
Poor thing. Is there anything you can do to calm him down?
no subject
However, I am not sure. This house is small, and in disrepair. As such, we are holed up in a singular room, and cannot get far from the racket. He is a combat chocobo, and as such he is riled and ready to fight, more frustrated he cannot take the anomaly on, than scared by it, if that should serve to soothe your worries.

[They frown sadly. It is a bit of a conundrum really.]
Is there any way you can cover your ears maybe? Like a blanket or something? 'm sorry. I wish I knew more that could help, but we're still learning 'bout anomalies. The house is safe though.
no subject
I am relieved to hear you are unharmed.
Yes, Tempest is a chocobo. It's a pity you've never been able to own a pet, however. I cannot say I have owned many, beyond Tempest, but such companions bring with them an unparalleled comfort, I'd say. Also, you can tell your "friend" that he does indeed like to be petted.

i thought he was just some kind of transport slash thing carrier slash feathery companion
then again with a beak and talons that size he could probably fuck someone up pretty bad
and yeah like
ive fought monsters before
even really big ones
but even if i had a sword with me i wouldnt want to risk it after what ive heard you know
better safe than disemboweled
