[network] voice; @standardissue; Someone set us up the bomb [Evening of day 65] [open]
Hey, everyone. We found something interesting. Unfortunately, we can't seem to get to it now, so all we have is the video we recorded. The house we found this in is in the northeast corner of the town on the northern wall, just a little west of the corner itself, but before you get to the park, if anyone else wants to try their luck.
And for the record, I would recommend extreme caution before trying what we did. Bombs aren't something you should play with if you don't know what you're doing, and the response to what we did...
Well, see for yourself.
[He switches over to the video they recorded.]
[A teenage boy's face is the first thing to be seen, framed by a mop of messy black hair that desperately needs a trim. Hiro's attention is only on the camera for a brief moment, though, before he turns to look at someone off screen.]
Okay, it's recording now. You're good to go!
[He steps away, disappearing from the camera's view, while the camera holds steady, as though fixed to something else. Visible in front of the camera now is a hallway with a door at the other end. There's a bottle of some sort (like the kind that bleach comes in?) taped with packing tape to the knob on the door.
There's also a man in what could be a military uniform, half obscured by the coat he has on. He's bent over, a hammer in his hand that he's banging on something made of metal. He grunts in acknowledgement of Hiro's remark, though.]
Just let me finish this last vent.
[A few more strong, swift blows and Zack straightens back up, admiring his work for a moment. The vent he'd been working on is clearly smashed shut.]
Alright. [That's Kunsel's voice.] Everyone to the door. Get ready to run on my command.
[A man enters the screen, dressed in the same kind of military fatigues (though purple instead of black) with a coat thrown over the top. His back is to the camera, and there's a helmet on his head, so not much of what he looks like can be seen, but he strides with swift purpose straight for the door at the other end. With a gloved hand, he uncaps the bottle, then with the other-]
Go!
[It's impossible to tell what he just dumped in, not with the camera swinging as the door Hiro's tablet is taped to gets jerked open. In fact, for a moment, nothing but wall can be seen, though there's plenty of noise in the flurry of movement of several people leaving the house. Over it all, combat boots pound. Kunsel and Zack clearly aren't interested in sticking around themselves.
Then the door swings back shut, cutting the noise outside off, and now there's only an empty, dimly lit room.
But not for long.
The bomb goes off with a deafening bang, snapping the doorknob off. Even part of the door itself seems to get blown off, but- no, it's just a chunk of the outer coating. It doesn't look like the door's made of wood at all, but some kind of coated metal. The door itself seems to be unharmed, remaining intact and on its hinges. It swings open lazily, opening inward, to reveal near-total darkness and a large, gleaming machine of some sort. It's impossible to make out the details of the machine, given the darkness, just that it exists and takes up probably the entire room it's in.
Then the vents drop to the floor as if they were opened from the inside and little, rapidly-moving multi-legged things, too difficult to discern the detail of in the darkness, swarm all over the area, shutting the door and climbing the walls and, eventually, grabbing the tablet. This is where the recording ends.]
[When it's done, Kunsel turns his tablet back to audio.]
After the bomb went off, we couldn't get back into the house. It wasn't lockdown, but it might as well have been, so we had to leave it there for the day. We went back this morning, though, and managed to get inside, but apparently something has sealed the inner door back shut. The knob's still broken, but the door won't budge. We couldn't see through the broken knob to the other side, either. Lacking supplies to do anything else, we're going to have to leave it like that for now.
Though speaking of which, if anyone has supplies they think might be useful for something like this, I might have some things I could trade. Of course, I figure actually meeting up might take some time, but we can work that out.

action;
Don't think we can find enough scrap metal to cover you. You're pretty big, man.
[Looking Kainsel over as he scratches the back of his head.] If we can find something to weld some of the scrap metal together...
Wait. WHOA [Dropping his tablet as he gestures widely with his arms.] Why would you want to go in there? We all saw those vents covers being ripped off from the inside. They have some sort of invisible guy or ghost on their side. I don't think anything is going to protect anyone from that.
action;
I'm actually not that concerned about the spiders. They seem more like a tool for the admin than anything sentient. They might not even be interested in us, just in fixing the damage we did.
[Still, that doesn't stop him from staring at Zell, bemused.]
What do you mean, an invisible guy?
no subject
Didn't it look like something opened the vents? I don't think those spiders can do that. Not with how smashed they were.
[He was going to show Kainsel the replay of it again, but tablet is on the floor some where...Oh well.]
Man, just imagine all those things climbing on you... [He isn't afraid of bugs, but imagining all those legs being all over was major yuck] They'll probably knock anyone out like they did with Angel and Rhys.
no subject
[Kunsel's mouth may be twitching up again.]
Something automated to release the vents from the wall when the admin supplied the right command.
[Though Zell does bring up a valid point. On the other hand...]
Those two also actively swallowed something that the admin had warned them in advance it was collecting. It won't need to immobilize us if we don't have anything it wants and aren't in need of medical assistance.
[Which he's sincerely hoping won't be the case.]
no subject
[Too bad none of them can fit into one, he would have tried.]
They either have eyes inside every building or some frickin' impressive fail-safe for that door. [Scratching his head a moment.] Probably both.
no subject
[He watches Zell, ticking an eyebrow up.]</small. You going to try to take one of the vent plates off?
no subject
You know, maybe we should find things stuff in the vents if we don't want them interfering. Or maybe drop a bomb in the vents. They will be too busy with that to get to any tablets or us.
no subject
Only if there's no other vents. If there are, wouldn't they just use a different one instead?
Though I do like the idea of blocking the vents. Now if we could just figure out how to keep from getting locked out without blowing ourselves up, too.
no subject
[He has a wrench though!] Use scrap metal from outside. It should be the same stuff the doors and houses are made from. We can also see if there is a way to take off the hinges from the front door.
no subject
Can't hurt to try. And I'm sure Zack would let you borrow his hammer.
no subject
And then Kainsel had to mention Zack had a hammer. Hopping back up to his feet with ease.] Really? YO ZACK! [He's probably going to have a new distraction bothering Zack for a bit, so hold that thought as he wanders off to find him.]
