-seriously, Angeal? I know we gotta work on survival in all kinds of environments, but snow? And what's with waking up in a body bag? That's pretty morbid if you ask me.

[ Shuffling can be heard and the next time he speaks, he sounds closer. And a lot more curiously confused. ]

[ Only a few minutes later and there's a new message to follow. This time, it's an actual video now and Zack's looking pretty sheepish at that. ] Okay, now I think I got this finally figured out. I also take it this isn't some ShinRa standard training program...

[ He makes a face at that, but it soon clears up to something surer. ] Anyway, SOLDIER Second Class, Zack Fair, at your service! [ He salutes quickly with a confidence that may or may not be exaggerated. ] I, uh... saw something about mind control? Anyone care to fill me in with that? Or anything for that matter?

[ Except maybe the body bag in the morgue thing. He's not sure if he wants to know. Capture...

[Another death, another revival. He doesn't feel the same hopelessness that he used to, more just a tired determination to make this extra chance count. The lack of memory is disappointing but it's not the first time he's seen someone suffer from this, so he's not too worried that it will last.]

[ By this point at least, Zack's not.. as lost and clueless as when he first touched base on the network. Maybe he should be a little more wary, but so far, everyone's been nothing but helpful to him (if not at times a little confusing). He's not about to look a gift chocobo in the mouth. Though it certainly doesn't stop him from sounding like he's almost teasing. ]

Of course, I can! I'm in some creepy old hospital from the look of things. Place looks ancient.

[Better than some places he could have ended up, at least it's fairly near useful buildings like the school.]

How much food do you have on you, are you going to need to go and find some?

Uh... I haven't really looked yet. [ And he might be smiling sheepishly at that. That might also be the loud thunk of his pack hitting the ground already as Zack wastes no time in checking. ] Is it pretty hard to come by around here?

Yeah, it's not the easiest thing, but there are a few buildings that are pretty consistent with having supplies to pick up.

[Sure, there might be the odd tin here or there in other houses, but it's always best to plan a route around the restock points.]

[ More rustling answers Al at first. Maybe a bit too much rustling before Zack finally sighs in a little bit of exasperation. ] Okay, so... where's the nearest food supply again?

[ Because knowing how his metabolism goes, he's gonna be eating this pack out of house and home in a few days. ]

You said you were in the hospital, right? That's the school, then, it's a few days walk north.

[He sends over the little map that House has made, circling both the hospital and the school.]

I know it doesn't look that far, but it's kind of hard going.

[ Trying to actually get the map to open is a little bit of trial and error, but Al can probably tell when he figures it out by the relief in his voice next. ] Huh. Thanks.

..So, hard going, huh. I mean I know it's pretty damn cold in here, so I'm gonna guess it's worse outside. Steph told me about the anomalies, too. Is there anything else I should know about?

You have to be inside by the time it's dark, your tablet will tell you when lockdown is coming and you should get into the nearest building by then.

[That's pretty much the most important thing, he doesn't want Zack to freeze to death before he gets his memories back.]

Sounds easy enough. [ Says the one who just froze to death. The irony will hit him later. ] ...though guess there aren't a whole lot of places you can stay down here, huh.

[ There's a frown in his voice as he looks at the map again. ]

As long as you stick to the map then it shouldn't be hard to find places to stay that are safe.

[He falls silent after that, waiting for whatever Zack wants to add with his 'by the way'.]

[ That gets at least an understand hum in answer. Maybe a little on the distracted side though as a zipper's heard and then rattling as keychains clink together while he slips his pack back on. ]

So, Alphonse, right? I was wondering.. Where are you? I mean your voice has been sounding pretty funny ever since we started talking. Kinda sounds like you're in some kinda vent or something.

[ Or maybe it's the signal being weird? His PHS has done that to him. ]

[There's a startled silence, a moment of surrealism for having to deal with this with Zack all over again.]

It's just the tablets, it's not a very good signal! I bet a lot of people sound like this when you talk to them... haha.

[ And it's kinda weird that he's shouting about it, all startled and stuff. He didn't think it was that big of a deal. ]

Unless you answered while you were taking a leak or somethin'. [ Maybe there's an echo in the bathrooms and that's why he's getting embarrassed? ]
