As soon as Sora saw that first name he attempted, yet again, to contact Cloud and got nothing. The messages wouldn't go through no matter what he tried. Panic started to set it as he turned his audio on, attempting to keep his voice steady.]
Cloud's back though, right? Like last time--he's back isn't he? Has anyone heard from him??
@duster, audio;
He hasn't come back, no. It's been almost a week.
Re: @duster, audio;
But he--there's..there's still a chance...isn't there?

It's a dangerous way of thinking and he knows it, but God damn it, people he's supposed to be taking care of keep dying.
People he's promised to take care of keep dying.
And Duster's name isn't up there, which means he's actually named Royce Melborn by process of elimination. John wonders if Gwen's last name was the same.]

Eve, this has to stop. I know you're trying to keep us all informed, and I'm sure this is some sort of system design for when the plague hit, or maybe when the disaster hit, but this needs to stop. You list off names for people who have already come back, and seeing that name up there, thinking they might not come back hurts like hell.
I don't know if you can at least change the message? Something about them awaiting revival instead of dying? It's small, but it shows that there's something you're actively doing to try to fix what's happened. Or how do you actually bring people back? I know you must have limited resources. It seemed like you and Mr. Miller were working against each other when we were down below. Is he doing something to undermine your powers?
['Or were you working together to manipulate us all along?' That question isn't asked, but it's forefront in John's mind.]

He feels a swoop of guilt at Cloud's name, even though the death wasn't by his hands this time, but it's her name that stabs him clean through. Steve would have wanted him to protect her and he didn't, now she's gone too.
Watson's name isn't on the list. Does that mean he never made it to her, did he even try? Had Bucky been a fool to put his trust in him?
There's just the sound of something being thrown against a wall in frustration.]

Realistically, England knows it's probably not related. Steve's obituary was nearly a week ago. But the world has a funny way of working sometimes.
He sets the tablet aside, screen side down, and takes a deep breath. His hands come up to press his palms against his eyelids as he leans his head back against the wall he sits near. Though there's a knot of weight in his chest, his mind is still numb with the shock of seeing her name.]

He takes a few more breaths before his brain fires enough signals to get him to speak.] It's Peggy.

[Clever, kind, beautiful Peggy is dead. And he doesn't even know how it happened.]

Might as well. We haven't got anything else to do, anyway.
[It's never a great sign when England opts for laziness over finding more work for himself. Oh well.]

Three. He's down to three now, isn't he? As far as he knows, anyway. There could be more of them wandering around and England might never know.
He lets America take his hand without any fuss, and the other one falls away as its companion is tugged. At least his fingers curl around America's hand in response.]

Unwilling to let America guess at the direction his mind is spiralling in, he squeezes back. While he doesn't sound insincere, there's little energy in his words.] Thank you.

You don't have to say anything.

He heaves a world-weary sigh and lifts a hand to place it on one of the arms wrapped around him.] Thank you.
[He's tired, but he really means it. He doesn't deserve someone like Ginger.]
