[network] @prettypinkflowers; Stichin', stichin', cotton pinnin'; DAY 114 [open]
[The video starts with Ginger being...herself. She looks particularly excited about something as she waves to her audience, grinning ear to ear. In the background, if one looks closely, one can see a string of paper cutouts resembling people holding hands strung up like a banner of cheer. There's also England, and a sewing machine, looking all together much more business oriented.]
Hello everybody! I think it's, like, been forever since I've made a network post, but guess what! My really cute friend England and I have some super duper extra special news!
[Wait, would this be news? Or would this be an announcement that doesn't involve news? Or something else entirely? Whatever! She barely hesitates, practically bouncing in her somewhat manic levels of energy. She continues right on to say what she intends to say, not noticing in the slightest the way that England visibly flusters over the choice of words she used to describe him in her introduction.]
Everybody knows that we're, like, totally into sewing, and ta-da! We have a bunch of tools and a machine that's working and a good amount of fabric we've picked up so here we are ready to work and have fun! Isn't that great? So, like, yeah!
[She looks back at England, a "did I do good?" expression lighting up her face. England, still not having completely recovered from Ginger's compliment, clears his throat and assumes as much composure as he can manage. He takes a few steps closer to Ginger so that he can better address the camera as he speaks.]
What Ginger means to say is, we'd like to take advantage of this opportunity to make clothes for people in the most efficient way possible. We're both capable of constructing garments by hand, but it's much faster when we have the machine.
So, we're inviting you to ask questions and formally put in requests for garments today.
[Yes. He's back on track. He gestures back to the machine and the pile of misfit fabric next to it. His voice is somewhat stern as he continues.]
Unfortunately, our resources are limited, so please try to be reasonable in your requests and be truthful about how badly you need the garment. We'll be prioritising those who are in the most danger from the cold.
[He doesn't necessarily like having to put it that way, but if someone is in summer clothes, he's more worried about their survival than someone who is well-dressed besides, perhaps, an appropriate pair of socks.]
Additionally, if you are nearby and would like to meet us to pick up your garment or donate spare materials, we invite you to coordinate that with us, as well. The house is a short walk northwest from the entrance to the tunnels. There's a snowman outside.
[Ginger claps her mitten-covered hands together.]
Oh, that's right! The snowman has a cute little hat on it that I found somewhere, so you really can't miss it! So, like, keep us company, okay? We'll be taking turns all day and it would be super nice to hear from you even if you just want to say hello!
((ooc: Ginger and England will both be responding from their tablets to questions as they switch off sewing, so may pick up handling different threads at different intervals.))

[It's good to see Ginger's in high hopes, too, considering everything that's going on.]
How long are the two of you going to be in that area?
video;
[Not that they can do very much about being cold in general, but they can at least...help out a little bit!]
We'll probably be here at least a few days, I'd think. But England's, like, totally the man with the plan in that regard.
voice
I don't need anything for myself, but I do have a couple things I think you could both use. Plus I, um... I already have a couple things I owe England on top of that, anyway.
Would you mind?

[And she's not going to say this, but it'll be really nice to actually be in the same room as another woman again. Girl time! Bonding! Her head is spinning with ideas of friendship!]

[She hesitates, then...]
Oh! I do have a leather skirt. Maybe you can make something out of it if we run into each other?
video;
[Which she means as a compliment, honest. Sorry for being embarrassing.]
I think we could definitely put our heads together and figure out a good way to repurpose it.
[Something to make shoes waterproof, maybe...?]
no subject
[Sorry, Ginger, give her a second. She's totally blushing.]
I, um... [A DIFFERENT TOPIC PLEASE.] Maybe gloves? Should I show it to you?
no subject
[She wants to see the kinky leather skirt, absolutely.]
That way I can see how much, like, fabric we have to work with. Maybe we can make more than one thing from it!
[So exciting! She's already ready to pull out her sketchbook and start working on some concepts.]

Does this work? We're hitting the craft store soon for Angel. I'll grab any fabric pieces I can find there.
@SceptredIsle; video
[Still, as he continues, he becomes serious again.] Anything you can provide would help. It's easy enough to make gloves or socks, but jackets and trousers require much more material, and I imagine some people will be needing those.
@zd; voice
We have a long blue evening dress if you want something longer. I can get him to model it if you want to see the length. We haven't really found anything large enough for jackets.

[He glances down to his knitting and counts the stitches as he speaks.] You're friends with Kain, aren't you?

Of course, it is very quickly replaced with a grimace.] Idiot. I've already started on a pair of mittens for you. Don't get greedy.
[And there's something of an imploring, expectant look in his eyes as he regards the tablet, as well. He's got their last fight in mind and he's absolutely waiting to see if America will thank him for his efforts.]

They're not going to match. But I doubt that will bother you.

This is really good of you, thank you both.
no subject
[It's always so nice to hear from Steve, so Ginger gives him her biggest, bestest, brightest smile.]
You don't need to thank us, we're just doing our uh...duty as seam-people!
[Ginger wasn't sure England would appreciate being called a seamstress. Is this more inclusive? Sure...yes. Absolutely.]
How are you and Peggy doing on warmth? Oh! And do you know if any of the, like, kids might need anything? You've probably seen at least one of them more recently than I have.
no subject
We're both in pretty good shape, I'd worry about other people first. If I had to make a wish list, though... I dunno. Hat and gloves for me... hat for Peggy, and maybe another pair of warm socks? Probably both of us and everyone in this place could use a change of undies and some long underwear. Peggy more than me on the long underwear, I've got more layers than she does. ...Again, nothing urgent, I know you have limited resources and I'm sure you've got higher-priority cases.
...Actually, yeah, I've just been with Quark and Frisk. They're in decent shape too, I'm happy to say, clothes-wise. Quark could maybe use some gloves. And like I said, clean underpants, long underwear. But they're not gonna freeze, thank goodness.

[She is tired of carrying around this tea when no one has accepted it in trade after all -- but this SceptredIsle was interested in tea, wasn't he?]
@SceptredIsle; video
He remembers himself after a moment and fixes his expression into something more neutral, but his gaze as he regards the tablet is intent.] Can you show me what sort of gloves you've got right now?
[He has to know what kind of gloves he needs to improve on.]

what would you recommend for a hobo lumberjack on a budget
I have a basketball jersey and/or a lil sewing kit for donation or trade or w/e
they just don't fit the ~aesthetic~ you know?
no subject
Oh my god, like, yeah! I could totally do something for you! Lumberjacks are pretty sexy.
[Lord help her. Or Tim.]
What are the main staples of your outfit right now? If you have anything that could maybe be a bit warmer, we could maybe, like, turn the jersey into a lining for it? That way you'll have the layers without, like, ruining the vibe you have going and everything!
no subject
uh I
red plaid shirt and jeans
plus my jacket and scarf obvs but they're not all
lumberjacky
just like
warm
[ Congrats Ginger you've startled him enough to beat back the sarcasm for ONE WHOLE REPLY!!! ]
