[network] @frfujimoto; evening 94 [video]

[He was originally going to post this in the morning, but he decided to give everyone a full day to cool off from the argument before saying anything. It also gave him more time to think about what needed to be said.

So that evening, not long after the doors close for the night, a video from Shiro goes up.
]

Did everyone have time to cool their heels a bit? I hope so, because we need clear minds to discuss something important.

That whole mess, with the drugs and the stealing and the dying? That's exactly the kind of thing we do NOT need to waste time on. I'm not even going to go into the details of just how much time and effort we lost because half-a-dozen of you decided that getting back at one-another was more important than finding a way out of here. Just know that I am using my 'disappointed voice' just for you, because of it.

[Which he is. He so is. He's a father in many ways, he has perfected that guilt trip.]

But we're going to put that in the past now, and move forward from here. And in moving forward, I think we need to all agree on a few baseline rules, to keep this kind of thing from happening again. We don't need a whole constitution and laws and shit, but just a few guidelines to keep things running smoothly.

I, personally, am a fan of 'no stealing', 'no killing', and 'don't be an asshole with the limited resources'. Any thoughts?

Okay, say everybody agrees to rules –what happens when someone breaks them? ‘Cause if someone wants to steal or kill or throw a tantrum or whatever, they’re going to do it even if there’s a rule against it. Especially if there’s no punishment, and there’s not because we can’t even agree to hang the one guy who’s actually killed someone, much less what to do with the guy who beat the crap out of the other guy that everybody hates.

Been here too long to be that optimistic, I guess. The Queen herself could end up here and somebody'd be plotting a mutiny in ten seconds or less.

Anyway, got something that might interest you if you're still doing the ghost thing.

[ Jim sends over a link to the first video of Samantha Stevens found in building 30. ]

Decided to try to recreate that when I was in the school and stuck my tablet in that desk.. Got a name - Samantha Stevens - before it told me there was an error and the whole room got a lot colder.

Since you were looking into ghost stuff at the school, I thought you might want to know.

Can we simply say that me beating the crap out of him was the justly meted punishment? Everything could be so much easier.

Of course, I forgot. When I try to stop someone from doing harm to my friend, in a way even he agrees is fair enough, it's very bad and wrong. But when a committee of you make up some rules to tell uninvolved people what to do, and send someone else to do the dirty work of enforcing them, that's what we call justice.
bookofnope: (oh must we)

Such mature. Very adults.

[personal profile] bookofnope 2016-03-11 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you considered not allowing those children you're so concerned about to get into the company of people who are likely to get the shit beaten out of them? Collateral damage tends to happens in a specific radius.

On the contrary, to me it sounds like the only logical solution. Get better at looking after your own. You can't do much about the rest of us anyway.

You don't need rules to do that. You only need them as an excuse to claim to help where you weren't called.

Not sure beating the crap out of someone for saying something you don't like is just, but whatever, it's over.

What's your punishment for what you did to Quark?

Having to listen to all of you complain about it.

Oh, please. Do you think this kind of back and forth moral banter is what I do for a hobby? The one thing I want is to be left alone to do my work in peace, and yet somehow that is the one thing that never happens. So stop assuming this whole fiasco was somehow a highlight of my week. And if you have to entertain any delusions about keeping the children here innocent, start by considering whether this end is served by letting them come to trust and respect Greg House, of all people.

[Crap, got him talking.]

[personal profile] rattlingthestars 2016-03-16 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry, was someone holding a pistol to your head and making you talk to the little annoying humans?

Nobody here's innocent, and doing what you did to an adult would be just as crappy.
bookofnope: (oh must we)

[personal profile] bookofnope 2016-03-16 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I see at least one little annoying human proving my point to me as we speak. Have you slipped Zell's leash today? He was making such good progress with balancing out some poor first impressions.

[personal profile] rattlingthestars 2016-03-17 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't bring Zell into this.

[ Actually, Jim's squinting at the tablet and trying to figure out what Zell's told Beckett, from that comment. Zell, why. ]

You're the one who started talking to me, anyway, Bitey.
