While confusingly similar, the area is split into a few different sections:

The Core
The hallways here are narrow and twist at a rapid rate. With how dazzlingly white everything is, it's easy to not realize you're coming on a turn and slam right into the walls. There are no rooms here--no one starts here, though they may find it while they wander. At the center is a large, round area, like the center of a spiral. There's a lot of air pressure here.

The Inner Hallways
The largest area, filled with dead ends, gentle slopes and twists, and, occasionally, difficult-to-see drops where a higher hallway intersects with a lower one without a wall to separate them. The whole place tastes vaguely like blood. Most rooms are here--most people start here.

The Outer Hallways
The outer ring of the ball of yarn. It's not as thick with halls and twists as the other two areas, leading to a lot more boring walking in one direction. It's totally possible to circle around the same path multiple times without realizing it, as everything is so similar here. Occasionally, footsteps can be heard just outside the farthest walls. Sometimes, something breathes. There are a few rooms here--some people will start here.

I'm not, but I'm not certain I would call it revenge, either. It's justice.

[Children have been brought here, put in this place and these situations. It crosses the firmest line she has (even if some of them are apparently cannibals).]

[He's starting to think that a lot of the assumptions he's been making about her are wrong, and he grins in response.]

No, you're right. Let's go find someone's ass to kick.

[bloodbiter]

Ah, please don't curse.

[Apparently murder is okay, but swearing is a big no. Go figure.

And then, without hesitation, she brings one of her hands to her other, digging her nails into her palm until beads of blood start to break through.]

Your finger could get infected, we don't know what that wall is made of.

[theurgy]

Right, right, sorry.

[He's still smiling despite the scolding, but he sighs when she digs her fingernails into her palm.]

Did anyone ever tell you you're really stubborn?

[bloodbiter]

No, they haven't. [She'd changed a great deal in the months prior to coming here.] Regardless, I prefer to think of it as persistent. Certainly not a bad quality to have in a place like this.

[She smears some of the blood onto her fingers, stepping around him to mark one of the walls.]

I suspect I could say the same of you, as it were.

What can I say? I'm charming.

[He's back to teasing again, which is something.]

[bloodbiter]

I was unaware that was the descriptor I used, quite honestly.

[It's as close to joking as she'll get. Another streak of blood goes on the walls.]

[theurgy]

Ouch.

[Cassel looks a little delighted, though.]

Is that court etiquette, Adelina?

[bloodbiter]

If this were court, I suspect everyone would be more concerned about the fact that we're traveling alone together.

[Imagine how awkward it's going to be once they have to huddle for warmth. She does smile, though, despite herself.]

What is that expression for?

[He laughs a little, making his own little smear of blood on the wall.]

Nothing. I'm glad you're not as nice as I thought.

[bloodbiter]

I said nothing impolite. I merely spoke the truth, I never called you charming.

[She doesn't sound offended, though. She does wonder, however...]

If that were true, why would it make you glad?

[theurgy]

[He shrugs!]

It means you're not going to put up with people fu—messing with you. It's good.

[bloodbiter]

Of course I wouldn't.

[She says it as though it's obvious, like she's still surprised he thinks she might.]

I am a fighter, you know.

[theurgy]

Yeah, I know. I pegged you wrong. Does this mean you'll come to my rescue if we run into a monster?

[bloodbiter]

[A small sigh.]

From what I've been told, there's no way to best them in combat... They must be a fair bit more difficult somehow than dragons or ogres. [Bummer. Can't slay 'em all.] But I would make sure you emerged unscathed, of course. You're a civilian, after all, aren't you?

[theurgy]

Yeah, I am, but I was just kidding. Don't worry about me, alright?

[bloodbiter]

I will worry precisely as much as I choose.

[Don't tell her how to live her life!!]

Hopefully such a situation won't come up at any point in the near future.

[theurgy]

Bossy.

[It's a joke again. This time when he marks the wall, he draws a lopsided smiley face. Morbid.]

No knight in shining armor stuff, alright?

[bloodbiter]

By necessity.

[A pause, squinting at that smiley face. Why.]

Is there something wrong with knights?

[theurgy]

Nope, nothing wrong with them as long as you're not going to try to pull a heroic sacrifice on me.

[bloodbiter]

[She seems honestly surprised by that notion as well, shaking her head slowly.]

Why would I do that? That seems pointless. Ah, not that protecting you would be, that wasn't my meaning... Rather, the ideal would be for us both to escape in such a situation.

[theurgy]

[Cassel snorts, stopping when they hit another junction.]

Okay, okay, I'll stop telling you what to do. Which way?

[bloodbiter]

[She pauses to think about it. There's no real advantage or disadvantage in going either way; they look the same to her.]

To the left, perhaps?

[She doesn't really want to walk in silence, though, and she's not certain what else to say. So, as she starts moving to the left, she looks over at him.]

What would you like to talk about?

[Which feels like a bit of a ridiculous question as they wander around a huge labyrinth hoping that nobody will try to kill them, but. There it is.]

[theurgy]

Uh...

[That's a good question, and he thinks for a moment. There really isn't anything good to talk about, but considering how she grilled him about calculus and Rome, he can at least entertain her.]
