[network] voice; @standardissue; Someone set us up the bomb [Evening of day 65] [open]
Hey, everyone. We found something interesting. Unfortunately, we can't seem to get to it now, so all we have is the video we recorded. The house we found this in is in the northeast corner of the town on the northern wall, just a little west of the corner itself, but before you get to the park, if anyone else wants to try their luck.
And for the record, I would recommend extreme caution before trying what we did. Bombs aren't something you should play with if you don't know what you're doing, and the response to what we did...
Well, see for yourself.
[He switches over to the video they recorded.]
[A teenage boy's face is the first thing to be seen, framed by a mop of messy black hair that desperately needs a trim. Hiro's attention is only on the camera for a brief moment, though, before he turns to look at someone off screen.]
Okay, it's recording now. You're good to go!
[He steps away, disappearing from the camera's view, while the camera holds steady, as though fixed to something else. Visible in front of the camera now is a hallway with a door at the other end. There's a bottle of some sort (like the kind that bleach comes in?) taped with packing tape to the knob on the door.
There's also a man in what could be a military uniform, half obscured by the coat he has on. He's bent over, a hammer in his hand that he's banging on something made of metal. He grunts in acknowledgement of Hiro's remark, though.]
Just let me finish this last vent.
[A few more strong, swift blows and Zack straightens back up, admiring his work for a moment. The vent he'd been working on is clearly smashed shut.]
Alright. [That's Kunsel's voice.] Everyone to the door. Get ready to run on my command.
[A man enters the screen, dressed in the same kind of military fatigues (though purple instead of black) with a coat thrown over the top. His back is to the camera, and there's a helmet on his head, so not much of what he looks like can be seen, but he strides with swift purpose straight for the door at the other end. With a gloved hand, he uncaps the bottle, then with the other-]
Go!
[It's impossible to tell what he just dumped in, not with the camera swinging as the door Hiro's tablet is taped to gets jerked open. In fact, for a moment, nothing but wall can be seen, though there's plenty of noise in the flurry of movement of several people leaving the house. Over it all, combat boots pound. Kunsel and Zack clearly aren't interested in sticking around themselves.
Then the door swings back shut, cutting the noise outside off, and now there's only an empty, dimly lit room.
But not for long.
The bomb goes off with a deafening bang, snapping the doorknob off. Even part of the door itself seems to get blown off, but- no, it's just a chunk of the outer coating. It doesn't look like the door's made of wood at all, but some kind of coated metal. The door itself seems to be unharmed, remaining intact and on its hinges. It swings open lazily, opening inward, to reveal near-total darkness and a large, gleaming machine of some sort. It's impossible to make out the details of the machine, given the darkness, just that it exists and takes up probably the entire room it's in.
Then the vents drop to the floor as if they were opened from the inside and little, rapidly-moving multi-legged things, too difficult to discern the detail of in the darkness, swarm all over the area, shutting the door and climbing the walls and, eventually, grabbing the tablet. This is where the recording ends.]
[When it's done, Kunsel turns his tablet back to audio.]
After the bomb went off, we couldn't get back into the house. It wasn't lockdown, but it might as well have been, so we had to leave it there for the day. We went back this morning, though, and managed to get inside, but apparently something has sealed the inner door back shut. The knob's still broken, but the door won't budge. We couldn't see through the broken knob to the other side, either. Lacking supplies to do anything else, we're going to have to leave it like that for now.
Though speaking of which, if anyone has supplies they think might be useful for something like this, I might have some things I could trade. Of course, I figure actually meeting up might take some time, but we can work that out.

@S ; voice.
...I'm going to assume there are few ideas on what the machine inside might be.

But.
Through it all, Kunsel had been listening. He'd been paying attention to Sephiroth, trying to see if this was the general that he knew. And what he saw... Well, he's still cautious, because the potential in the future is still there, but he's also cautiously hopeful. Sephiroth still seemed completely sane and in control. Maybe things don't have to go the same way as before.
So Kunsel's response now is cautious, but neutral.]
Given the level of technology in the tablets and how compact they are, something as big as what we saw must be massively complex. I have a few ideas, but I could also be completely wrong.
[He pauses to gauge Sephiroth's level of interest.]

Which are?
[ the ideas, that is. sephiroth would have to admit he can't say much about the machine's purpose or function based on the dim view through the video feed, so really any guesses kunsel has are already something. ]

The first and most obvious thought that crossed my mind is that the machine in there might have something to do with whatever it was that brought us here. Another possibility is that it has something to do with NIMA, despite being located away from the hospital.
Then, too, there's the fact that we have a functioning computer network. We have who knows how many drones of some kind under the admin's command. There has to be a server or central computer somewhere. Maybe that's what we found.
Branching off into more speculative ideas, there's something that's keeping this town from getting snowed in. Given how often it snows here, and how there's been no chance for any of it to melt, it seems like there has to be something artificially controlling how much snow accumulates.

...Effectively making all of this merely a stage with props.
[ dangerous, very real props. but then, it's no secret that all their strings have been tugged left and right since their arrival here. ]
How many similar doors are there? Or was that the only one.

Well, why not treat Sephiroth like anyone else?]
You feel up to being in the latest production of LOVELESS?
[Trying to lighten the mood only works so well, though, when the idea isn't so deadly serious.]
It's the only one I know of so far, though I wouldn't be surprised if there are others. If I can find out where another one is, I'd like to try my luck at it, though in light of what happened this time, I might need to rethink my plan.

[ the mention of loveless brings about an old sting from an old wound left behind by genesis from years gone by. he doesn't linger on it though, instead focusing on the next bit. ]
And yes, clearly. I spoke to someone about the vents and trying to expose their weaknesses for us to see if there's anything to be learned about this place through them. While the person I spoke to did not seem keen on the idea, perhaps their connection to these rooms could prove useful.

Best to stick to business, then. Even if it means awkwardly dropping the first half of the conversation with a wince that he's just as glad is concealed by his helmet.]
Possible, but I think we'd need to find something like a plumbing snake just to see farther than the first few feet. If we could attach a tablet to that...
[Who knows what might be down in the bowels of these houses? Besides a theoretical nest of spider drones.]
Or were you thinking of something else?
