[network] @ADMIN; Arrival
Welcome to Norfinbury. The time is E̛̬̞͖͖̫R҉͖̯̬R̼̻͉̰͎̳̙O̩͓͔̫͇͈̯R and the date is E̛̬̞͖͖̫R҉͖̯̬R̼̻͉̰͎̳̙O̩͓͔̫͇͈̯R. This network has been provided for your use. Please interact politely with everyone else on this network.
@standardissue; audio
If that's how this guy works, too, sounds like my kind of guy.]
Hello, Mohinder. I'm Kunsel. SOLDIER, Second Class, based in Midgar on Gaia. The year when I left was εγλ 0007, though it might be εγλ 0008 by now.
I appreciate the warning. [No really, he does, because it sounds like he and others here could easily be targeted by the man that Mohinder is describing.] Do you know anything else about this man? His name? What he looks like? Chances are his abilities will be nullified here, like everyone else's, but he could still be dangerous.
Also, if you haven't had a chance, I'd recommend reading the information that Steph linked. I'll send you the link.
[Here, Mohinder. Have the mother of all infodumps.]
no subject
I-- [There is a bit of a stop and start as Mohinder takes in information that is incredibly different from what he had expected. You see, the man might have allowed the idea that super humans exist after seeing them with his own eyes, but aliens? And that's what we are talking about here right? Something alien? It's troubling and fascinating and amazing.]
I'm not sure I have a frame of reference for your time but--
The man in question? His name is Sylar. I've never seen him but I've heard several recordings and have-- had--- notes kept by my father. Sylar is in possession of a list of people who share the genetic markers for human evolution. It's a relief to know--
Oh. They have the ability to nullify genetics? Of course. It must be in the nanotechnology implanted in our blood-- hm.
no subject
[Kunsel blinks, though all Mohinder will hear is a pause before he responds. Here less than a day and he's already deducing the abilities of the nanotechnology here. That's impressive.]
NIMA, yes. We're pretty certain that's what's behind it. [He tilts his head, the curiosity reflecting in his voice.] You're familiar with nanotechnology, then?
no subject
[To know the mind of his father's killer-- That would be a boon.]
As for the nanotechnology, much has been theorized. I've never been exposed to it myself, I can only go by what others have said of it. It seems feasible, however.
I would love a chance to see it and study it.
no subject
Unfortunately, you're likely to see a lot of similar things here, in terms of "madness scrawled in blood." Figuratively, if not literally, too. This place can affect people poorly. If he comes here, it might be hard to tell if anything can be attributed to him. Unless you can recognize his handwriting, or turns of phrase he'd use?
[Because otherwise good luck, Mohinder.
With that other admission, though, Kunsel feels a dash of disappointment. Not a nanotech expert, then. Still...]
Don't suppose you've heard anything about how to reprogram it? It's keeping us alive here, but it really would be useful if we had our abilities back.
no subject
[Yes good Mohinder. Discuss your plans four hours after waking up, reading a bunch of content, talking to two people, and over an open airway. Smart. So smart.]
I would need some equipment and a lab... I have some of my gear with me. They took my laptop and... They took some of the items out of my specimen collection kit.
[private]
The Admin's low on resources for repairing things here. It's likely your things were taken to help with that. What do you still have?
As for equipment and a lab, you might try contacting @hotstud_xxx. He's a doctor who's been looking into this too. He's an ass, I'll warn you, so don't take anything he says to heart. But he's smart, and he likes puzzles.
no subject
[Hot Stud XXX. A name he chose for himself. Mohinder thought himself somewhat clever about his. His ex fiancé had once given him a mug that had Splice of Life written on it with a little DNA helix on it.]
I'll reach out to him. Has anyone met this Admin? Doesn't it concern you that someone is running operations, seeing us through here and going through our things without being more capable of interacting in person?
I have a few sample tubes and some slides and protectors. There isn't much left in my satchel. A flashlight...
Is it this cold everywhere?
no subject
As far as I'm aware, no one's actually met the Admin, and it definitely concerns me that we have as little contact with her as we do. There isn't much we can do about that, though, so I haven't been dwelling on it. Better to focus on what we can accomplish, at least until we have other options.
Keep your hands on that flashlight. Try to use it sparingly, too, since batteries around here are scarce. There aren't any houses with working lights that we've found, and only one we know of with electricity, so a flashlight will be dead useful for you. Don't leave it out of your sight, or the Admin's spiders might pick it up.
It's this cold everywhere except one or two buildings, and even those aren't all that warm.
no subject
I'm going to admit that I am not built for the cold.
And I also-- How is it that this Admin seems to widely trusted if she uses... Spiders, artificial or otherwise, to take the belongings of those here, drastically alter their bodies with invasive technology, and hold us without information?
I know that's likely rhetorical. I'm sorry.
no subject
[They have few enough resources as it is.]
Although speaking of resources- You say you're not built for the cold. How are you for adequate clothing?
[He'd hope someone who's as intelligent as Mohinder has to be would be smart enough to mention if he was lacking critical needs, but you never know...]
no subject
[Oh Kunsel. Stick around and you'll see how poorly Mohinder makes choices in his life. Intelligence had nothing to do with common sense.]
no subject
I'm not familiar with Montana, but that sounds like you were lucky there. I don't think very many of us came with anything in the way of cold weather supplies.
[Some people even arrived wearing shorts or skirts.
Or maybe nothing at all. He wasn't entirely certain about that guy who needed a sock for his "dong."]
Unfortunately, a lot of the buildings here aren't in much better condition. Even if you find one that is, I wouldn't recommend staying in it for more than a few days at a time. There's something about this place that affects you the longer you're in one place.
no subject
[So much snow, Kunsel. So much. Why?]
I am going to head for the store. One of the stores. I hope I can keep track of where I am on this map. I'll try heading for the hospital. It looks... It looks like it might take me a month.
no subject
I don't think any of us particularly enjoy it, so you're in good company there.
[There is definitely way too much snow, and way, way too much cold.]
If you get lost, someone on the network has probably been where you are. Just send us a video of the building or your surroundings and we'll do our best to help out.
no subject
I just hope someone can figure this out before the time limit is up. I don't mind working under pressure but-- it's a great deal of pressure, indeed.
no subject
And I hope so, too. Just remember you're not working alone. With all of us working on it, I'm sure we'll figure something out.
[He's not going to let himself doubt.]
